Rules discussion... - 12-23-2003, 08:03 PM

After reading the Rules thread, raise any issues or suggestions you may have in here.

Not all suggestions and issues will result in a change of the rules, but all reasonable suggestions will be discussed by the Mods and may result in a change in policy.

Peace

Perfect....I was jus thinkin': Why does content have to be suitable for pre-teens? Isn't it illegal to be using forums/chatrooms if you're under the age of 13 anyway? Wasn't that the whole deal with the C.O.P.P.A. (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act)? Or's that jus with like, North America, or something?

A good point, but any law like that is local.
That aside, 12 and 13 are practically the same. Even removing the pre-teen element, the site still needs to be kept appropriate for users of that kind of age age.

how about when we give links to websites that have some adult content in them. Like newgrounds for instance i posted some links and well i had to put in that there was some adult content in that page so there will be no troublel, are we still gonna have to do that worning.

Hm...the preteen thing...let me explain something, "preteen" doesnt just mean suitable for people teenager or above, its just an idea of whats acceptable, something that would be acceptable for a lower age...and the reason being is because./.

just because someone is 18 doesnt mean he/she wont take offense to something. This site shouldnt have material someone can take offense to...

And as for rules being strict...well I think your all lucky you got this thread instead of having all the mods just delete on sight any spam thread and banning the pure spammers who do nothing but come here n contribute spam. This is a bboyin thread, lets not bitch about what ur given to help out

Dont bite the hand that feeds u, eventually everyone helping u will get annoyed...jesus.

Beginners giving beginners tips without understanding what they are saying is probally one of the worst ways to spread KNOWLEDGE.....which is the key to anything in life.

as per usual.....i'm glad we have clarified as to what is appropriate in this forum. just to the board, if you want to discuss an issue put it here or if it is of an urgent nature do report it to a mod, but dont use that function for crap like 'he said shit in his post'...that function is for harassment and the suchlike. remember that and also remember harassment is not tolerated in the site....tane will take care of such issues as well.

Its a common sense thing...

just because theres a place to put non-bboy related topics, does not mean we are going to allow garbage, part of the point is TOPICS for CONVERSATIONS...not garbage

the reason is simple, it doesnt belong there. if u think were gonna go into each thread n put a reason, i dont think so...refer to the rules. simple enough, but then again people tend to be lazy, not our problem, sorry

Newbreaker - I take your point on the links issue - and yea, it would add an "if you are easilly ofended, don't click the link" element to it, but the link is still linking to innapropriate material.

I think that for that reason it's better to have no links at all than some which might offend and others that might not.

Explanations for deletion are good in an ideal world, but I for one dont want to post in every thread I think needs deleting.
I'm with Anubis when he says if it was deleted, then it broke the rules. If people keep getting threads deleted, then they really should read over the guidelines, because anything that will get a deletion is mentioned in there.

I dont know about other mods but when I close a topic it is either clear because of flaming and such, or I edit the last post to say why. I thought that it was common curtosy to do that, meh, thats just me.

Also, when I delete something the spammers dont usually miss the post because of all the other crap they post.

"GRAFFITI IS AN ART, AND IF ART IS A CRIME, HOW COME PICASSO NEVER DONE TIME"

Cavemen did it, so did Romans and Egyptians. The Incas did
it, so did Greeks and Native Americans. There was graffiti on the
New York subway a year after it was built. There`s graffiti on the
moon. If graffiti is vandalism, and vandalism is graffiti, then man
has left his mark with garbage at the farthest reaches of the
universe. So you with your pathetic desire to be remembered are in
good company. I could spend a ream of paper telling you about the
development of modern graffiti, but we`ve got other ground to cover.
It`s important that you know it, so ask your local expert (or DJ
Deadly Budda in Pittsburg if you don`t have one) and he`ll tell you
his version.
