Saki, you'll learn about it in Earth Science..at least I did. It's gotta do with which way wind is deflected..AK is correct, earth isn't a cylinder or a perfect sphere. it's an oblate spheroid, it bulges at the equator. but not much, just barely. If your interested i'll type up what my last year's textbook says..I never returned it and they didn't notice..well she didn't ask for it back but oh well.
