LOL the ole
"blocking the damn messenger cuz it isn't school appropriate" trick huh?
Fuckers...thats when it's time to get down and dirty and take a happy back door.
The Port isn't what is causing you to be blocked, it's the IP Address.
AIM uses a different IP than it does for it's website, so when you ping the server to get your buddy list info, the school's shit is like "Ahh..the fucker is tryin to get in..block his ass"
If you go to
www.aim.com
Then they have an "AIM Express" where you can access your buddy list and send messages through an online AOL Messenger
That messenger uses a different IP address than the actualy AIM Messenger does.
If the AIM Express messenger is the one your using...then you could always try a quick ping and tracert to see if AIM uses any other IP and Port numbers.
Go into the MS-DOS or command prompt
type in "ping and then whatever the aol address is"
that will give you teh ip
then after you have the IP address
type in at the same command prompt
tracert and then the IP number
it will start conducting HOPS
A "hop" is how the website goes..
for example...to get to the aol website, you might have to have the signal from your computer go through 3 different servers and or client computers..
If that being the case, then you might be able to access your information over one of the other servers or client computers
after it is done Tracerting, it should give you port addresses and other server information.
Try to Telnet the other servers and the origional IP
If you get to a screen and it says "userName:" and so forth
type in your regular user name and password for AIM...you might be able to access your information through telnet...I dunno though.
Hit me back with any results
