Though it may be involved with hip hop, it doesn't mean it IS hip hop.

Hip Hop was a movement created to motivate the young afros and latinos to better, speak up and stand up for themselves. It was a sign of freedom. freedom to express ur way of life the way u wanted. as the industry took over (rich white people) breaking, graffit and DJ popularity started going under radar cause rapping was more profitable. you could take music home with you. you cant take a dancer, graph artist or dj with you.

As Gansta rap took over it gave positivity by showing what the real world is like and gave afros something to relate to but came with a lot of negativity and put sex drugs weapons gangs and killing into a bigger spotlight.
now rap is just about girls and beats and U need to look hard so they sell drugs, cuss and exploit women. no one really cares for their lyrics they just say what ever rhymes and because rap crossed over to other genres so much people dont know what real hip hop is. they think Hip Hop is rap but its not any genre can have rap.
Rap is just a footnote of HipHop.

Its easy to tell the real Hip-Hop artist from The Rappers
Hip hop artist put there life in the music and Try to bring there story out so that others can be aware and learn from them.

The Rappers just look out for themselves and create effortless lyrics just for money and popularity!
