Red face Stretched ligament...help? - 10-16-2009, 11:07 PM

Hey Bboy.org..
So about a month and a half ago i was practicing my three steps and popped the knuckle around my thumb out of whack. And ever since then every time i bboy, i usually either sprain it or pop it out of the joint, its become extremally painful and extremally easy to do, it happens basically every session now.
I heard its' cause I stretched the ligament, anyone else have this problem or solutions??

I have tendinitous in both my elbows and i body build.
You can work around this but its not easy.
Best way if you've strained it is to rest and eat right, and do light work on it to keep it active.

if you stretch a ligament, rest
REST OR IT WILL SNAP, and you'll be really fucked up
I advise maybe 2 weeks~ 1 month

Staying in the IRC chatroom, hit it up

Thats not interally true.

I had a accident whilst riding freestyle moto x, didnt think anything of it.
Trained weights continously on it in pain and working around it, whilst going to doctors ect.
They couldnt work out what was wrong exactly.
2 years later i went to a surgeon and he tells me ive ruptured the tendant on.
Ive had a operation on it now and everything is fine, but training continously actually made the supporting muscle groups stronger and take up the slack you could say for the specific tendant in my chest/shoulder.

Ie: rest does not fix my elbows period, i can rest for 6 months solid keeping all stress off it, be all good and then the littlest thing will make it flare up again.
Either go see a doctor and get a expert opinion on your exact situation or work around it

Oh and if your going to work around it, Train smart.
Help your body repair, which includes a correct diet, suppliments such as protien, fish oil, glucosamine.

Glucosamine is for joints, but i noticed a change in how my tendent reacted, dunno if it was a placebo or not, worth a shot for you.

Any foods with high amounts of it in it?

im not sure whether you ligment "tear" is just a sprain or not but have you tried icying it down and going to a doctor? it won't perhaps heal correctly if you dont have it bacl in the correct place

If he tore his ligament he cant move the coresponding muscle and would need surgery.

Sil3nce ive never personally used that brand so i cannot say, i used a local heath food store one in powder form.
I also used flaxseed oil with that.

Its definatley not torn, it usually goes back to normal after a few days of the R.I.C.E treatment. But it's so easy to hurt now, that it happens very, VERY often. Thanks for responses guys, ill try em out.

That happened to me. Both of my thumbs "popped" out of place, but the right thumb was more severe. I rested most of the time, but still continued to practice a little. I just wrapped and taped mt thumb and did footwork on my palms instead of inner knuckles to prevent it from popping out of place, and it was relatively painless. It took about 3 weeks for it to heal.

Any lasting effects? Ever gone on your inner knuckles again?

It's been about a year since it happened to me, but so far nothing serious. I can do footwork normally on my inner knuckles without any pain.
