Despite the fact it gives exposure to up and coming dancers trying to make it, the majority of people who watch the show are ignorant to the subject of dance period. Not to mention it gives off not the wrong representation, but a bad one, making people think that hip hop is about tricks and moves.

While it does inspire people to start taking up dance as a hobby and passion, it brings in those bitchy ass ones that believe bboying is all about power, and that sets need to contain speed control, ripples, and other crowd pleasing effects. I can't stand to see any of these people at dance events who are blown away by the most mediocre crap.

and.. I don't know how many of you people actually know, but the show is completely rigged. There is a clause in the contract that all people participating on the show have to sign that states that the producers can choose whoever they want to be on or off the show, as long as it doesn't violate other individual contracts.
For example: There are actually teams on the show guaranteed a certain amount of episodes before they can be kicked off the show. So if there have only been 2 episodes, and a team is guaranteed 3 episodes, even if they end up at the bottom with the lowest votes, they can't be kicked off.
So in the end, it's who you know and not really the dancing.
i'm sure all of us started off ignorant of the dance!
but after participating in jams and talking to OGs of the dance and being willing to learn we all mature!

bring ppl in the scene will be good idea even if they start off wack and annoying.

I said they CAME BACK for 3, and they atleast made it onto the show, proving that you can audition more than once. That's what was at question.

I AM SO GOT DAMN SICK OF ABDC. There was probably a 30% gain of bboys just because America's Best Dance Crew are bboys too. -_-

As photographers we sell *emotion not emulsion.* the tools are immaterial, the resulting piece is all important.

Too me, im not a huge fan of the show itself but i still watch it because i actually like some crews on their. But one thing i really dislike about it is that the crews sell out. Ex) TM in season 3. In the audition for season 2 they freakin killed that routine but they didnt make it because i guess there was no hype in it (Bullshit). Comes season 3 and they became all punk rock and shit and im like wow you guys sold out.

And thats another thing that kills the true beauty in this style. ABDC is all bout hype; which crew can get the crowd going and ratings up. I havent seen a crew on their dance to an R&B song since TM auditioned in season 2. Most songs they use on there are fast-paced and club music. Me personally, i think the true art comes out when any dancer dances to like R&B, Soul, etc. Lots of emotions come out through the dance when dancers use songs from these genres.
Coming from the TM family, by no means did they ever sell out. That's just MTV for you. Upon coming back, MTV said they have to show up with an "image," because they were too much like Kaba. It's been a big thing in our family, as well as other dance teams, to incorporate a theme to make the set more entertaining, but MTV's need to keep the show "fresh and new," forces and makes you out to be something your not.

Also, before taping, the producers watch your set for the week, and tell you what they want in and out of it. So you can be stuck having to make a last minute change in their favor. They systematically set people up to fail on the show.

Another thing, how can you follow anything that's happening on stage when the angles are always changing? I bet if you watch the sets from one point of view (center), you will catch so much more in the movements, and notice who's really coming hard and who's not.

Like you pointed out with music, the original choreography is legit, but after MTV remixes the music, it's like an incomplete product. You don't even get to dance to the original song, does that not take away from it?

One of the pieces used in the audition

another

and lastly, start at 2:30. Now this is a sick ass piece they used, and after the remix on ABDC, the piece didn't make any sense.

oh shit that was dope . im glad i know how to do that . that makes me better than you ally .

then when i do a 90 to a airbaby there all like .... he won cause thats shit is on tv
I agree ...O_O there's still a few smart ppl on this site?!

-Sigh
This show is surely something. At first it was iight... now its just annoying. Some of you are into and that's fine, To each to his/her own. Some people sweat its ****. People like Nocents and a few others should spend more time practicing then watching videos
If I was a Choreo based crew -sigh I despise choreo heads(Only choreo ppl)
I'd train for ABDC like it was BOTY. And on that whack *what if Gamblerz* entered ABDC comment/s.... that's just retarded... whoever even thinks that's ok should go play in traffic lol

Unless your famous or one of the "popular" bboys on here... No one really gives two ish's about you/your posts and or threads. Simple as that. Sad too ain't it?

I have a strange and strong desire to see really good Locking on that show (for some reason). But, Locking every week may not appeal to the viewers in America that vote. Anyway, I don't mind ABDC. If a crew is better at choreographing than battling freestyle, then do what you do best. The crew should know their niche. And I agree with the posts about how whenever a crew incorporates bboying or tricks the young voters are mostly going to choose the Power moves over intricate footwork (sob sob). Let's face it, when your not familiar with bboying, you notice the power moves first. Lastly, if the show helps people find their passion (whether it's popping, bboying, or locking etc.), and brings in a plethora of posers, and biters, I'm just goin' to try my best to deal with that. Because seeing dance helps gain curiosity, and for some, after starting it they don't ever want to stop.My opinion and I know people are going to disagree, but I'm a confused 14 year old who likes to speak his mind (^__^)

oh my bad dawg if you think i was dawgin on ur family, no disrespect im still a fan of TM, just that image is what killed me ya know? but damn lol shows how much i watch MTV lol i didnt even know they did that. But ya thats true bout lookin at it centerview. It's ridiculous how they have a camera moving around the stage, whats the point in that? Oh and jw if they had to do those last min changes why did they follow through with it? i wouldve said fuck it and stuck to the original plan, but would that get you DQ or the producers rig it so that you're in the bottom two and lose? Man ABDC keeps gettin worse and worse but then again some of the audiences are ignorant and only judge by "cool moves" or they just hop on the bandwagon

lol oh and another thing, Thats dumb as hell that MTV wants crews that are fresh and new lmao. Its already gettin repetative already and the shows gonna die out quick if they want crews that are "fresher and new"

yeah i know that. that kinda happened with quest crew. they auditioned for season 1 but couldnt enter because of contracts that Hok and D-Trix had with SYTYCD. but what im saying is that once you become one of the crews on the show and you get voted off, your out for good.

Nah don't even trip, that's just the side of the media that many of us do not see. ALL reality shows are rigged and fake. Everything is pre-determined.

And unfortuantely, you're under contract, which means they pretty much own your soul, and if you say fuck it, you can lose everything you have. The show isn't filmed live, so you pretty much have to listen to them, and even when you fight for yourself, you can't do anything. You can't really expect to get all those angles from one shot, they do it multiple times and then they edit it all together.
Ex) Season 1 live auditions, Automatic Response from AZ did something to clown crews during their "battle," but they stopped them and re-taped it after saying they're not allowed to do that because of "insert lame reason here", and they had to change it.
