Tutting feels - 10-25-2006, 06:37 PM

So what feels do u all incorporate wif ur tutting and how do u switch them up?

I tend to isolate dif feels and then sometimes combine several to make hybrid feels.

Some feels I do include:

Mechanical

Cause and effect

Mime/isolated/fixed point

Disolved/breakaway

Smooth

Mechanical

Cause and effect

Mime/isolated/fixed point

I kinda do these, not all that good at tutting myself though. Maybe I should have you look at a clip of me once I get the balls to post one

Rice saw a few of my tuts a couple months ago, I'm a little better now, but have no idea how good they are =X

Also a question:

Disolved/breakaway

Smooth

What're these?

When you refer to "feels" do mean "styles" or "variations" ??

This is a whole new concept to me and it's really strange because I usually incorporate tutting when I'm dancing, but I never actually came across "feels" ..

Could you fill me in on what you mean?

or show videos on these different "feels"? thanks a million!

Oh and I have this link of me ..

http://www.bboy.org/gallery/showphot...just&name=just

and from 1:15 there's some tutting that I do, maybe you could tell me what "feel" that would come under.

How embarassing .. my display name is all "azn pride" hahahaha .. how lame cud I of been

Yo, dope to see some peepsr reading this. Look at feels just like "feels" in boogaloo, or any other style for that matter. Its like having a certain attitude or theme when u tut. Break away and dissolve is apllying a lot of liquidy / digit type transitions. It gives the impression the tuts are shattering and re-forming into new shapes. Kinda can have an almost claymation look sometimes. Smooth to me is primarily a less jerky dimestop and slightly more faster tempo then its cousin mechanical. Where as mechanical should flow like a machine jerking through its positions, all machines are not perfect and have flaws or quirks in the way they move, with smoother tuts ur going for a perfectly isolated and conformed look. Like a computer model just jumped out of ur computer and started building around u.

By all means these are my personal defanitions for the way I do it, please do not take what I say and preach it like its the rules of tutting, because the most important rule of all is, if it looks good to u, ur doing it right!

Yo Justfilo, I realy cant tell u what feel ur doing wif that, only u can describe ur own ish. If I were to take a stab I would say ur ish has a very flow or liquidy aproach to it. Everything kinda slides and morphes into the shapes. U dont utilize a dimestop, and thats not necessarily bad, U got ur own way of doing it bro, and thats what counts.

I sappose the major dif between styles and feels would be styles are actual foundation and concepts, feels are an attitude or over all look u put over that. Like when an animater tries to animate as a creature (taco=snake).

I hope this cleares things up. I realy dont post clips anymore but If I ever see any of u in person feel free to ask me

OH OK OK I get you!

so "feels" as in, different ways to transition to different angles. I hope that makes sense.

And your comment on my tutting, I actually agree with you on that. When I tutt, I don't necessarily pause from angle to angle, I usually try to make it transition smooth and really fluent.

I understand your descriptions. As for mechanical it's as if like .. not so much as robotic, but your angles add on to each other. (I see how it's hard to explain it hehe)

But thanks HEAPS for this thread, it's opening a lot of ideas in terms of my tutting. Oh and it's cool if you don't post up clips .. hehe but I really doubt I'd ever meet you in person hahaha.

I've never seen your tuts geo, any chance of sending (or pming) me a link so i can see what you mean? I've never really concentrated on tutting enoughy to notice different feels. I would be interested to see something to identify these feels and variations you mention.
