Robot style shake -
02-03-2005, 10:57 PM
Hiya,
Just wondering if anyone could give me any tips on how to get your entire body to shake visibly. Its often used in robot stuff, Mike Watson does it at 1:37 in
Legend vs Mike Watson compressed.wmv
I can get my body to do it a bit just by using my leg, but then my leg looks crap, also it only lasts like a second before i mess it up. Just wanted to learn it right first time, so i wouldnt have to relearn it.
Thanks

I wouldn't call it hitting yet instead it would be called seizure I assume. All you do is tense your body by flexing and slightly try to shake your body, but not too much that it looks too...akward?
I am the definition of action.

Its called vibrating
Tensing ur muscles until it vibrates works for the top body... but the bottom half doesnt really work...
this how i do my legs... to get it to shake (u might be doin the same thing)...
okay... do u remember wen u sit on a chair and wen u lift up ur heel... ur leg start shaking for no reason?... well do that while standing up...
ur ass vibrating? no id yet
from wot i see ppl do... they only do the top half of the body... and still makes the illusion that ur whole body is vibrating
A few definition that i use to describe dance in general

Dance styles: Specific movements done to portray the music.

to get your lower body to shake, you have to do a strange kind of flex. i don,t know what muscle it is called, but you should feel slight pressure on your knees, and considerable pressure at the joint where the top of your leg connects to your pelvis. that should make your legs shake left and right really fast, in short bursts. looks like seizuring. if this isnt clear let me know, because i dont think i did a very good job here :/
Everyone was a beginner at some point.

im finding it hard to get that pressure on the pelvis joint yates, knee's are easy tho. but no real shake yet...
and kinda movement that would cause that makes them muscles contract in that way? just wanna get an idea for what it should feel like. Thanks

okay well you said you already found the musclkes that put the pressure on your knees, so youre doing well there.
okay. feel along the side of your leg going up till you find the pointy hip bones. theres a muscle covering that bone, and you can flex it. basically, what you have to do is put your feet shoulder width apart, bend at the knees a bit, and find a certain tendon that extends all the way up your inner thigh. you have to be able to flex those. once you do that, just help your leg to shake by wiggling your knees left and right very slightly. you should be able to make your lower body shake like that. basically your legs and wobbling inward and outward really fast. i hope this helps. if it doesnt hit me up on msn and ill give you mroe specifics as they come to me.

Hahahahahaha.... the vibrate is just an illusion!!!! Just shake your knees front and back real fast. Also for the upper body just shake your arms back and forth real fast.
Of course you shake them fast but you keep the space where you shake them small.

nah komedy, that won't cut it. the illusion looks fake when you do that, because the movements are too large.

i did read your whole post bro, i'm just saying you didn't give all the information. i tried doing it the way you explained and it looked more like small wobbling rather than vibrating. you're not wrong, theres just one more aspect that you have to include to make it look authentic.
