A bit of help... - 09-19-2003, 09:41 PM

It's a pretty bad clip, quality-wise.....SUPER shitty, and my hands got cut off, but I was wonderin' if you guys can help me choose a wave style to improve upon? I'm tryin' to make 'em different from the traditional style, so they look pretty bad since I jus pulled 'em outta my ass this morning...lol Also, keep in mind that I 'damaged' (And I use that term to "enunciate" the pain...lol) my right elbow a few days ago.....so I didn't include it in the wave, unless I couldn't NOT do it...Ah yea, and there's no sound either....didn't bother to turn the mic on.....but the music that WAS playin' was Full Clip - Gangstarr.....which doesn't make a diff anyhow. lol

So which type of wave do you guys prefer? (The second one is just Awful.........but with some work it'd actually be good, I assume.)

Some feedback'd get some propz.

Peace

isolation.... work on controlling your waves. practice them in slow motion... practice bending each joint as individually as you can. i dont know which you should choose.. it depends on where you want to go

I am in my own little parallel universe, where feelings are movements, movements are existence, and the rhythm is life.

You think it'd look better that way? Cuz I was gonna practise 'em without isolation on purpose.....hmm, I guess you're right. Too bad I'm unable to take the video in a bigger room where I can actually show you ALL of the elements of 'em...like what I'm doin' with my legs (Which in a way, I'm glad you can't see, because it's shitty at this point as well...lol)

Thanks a lot for the F.B.

Anyone else got something to add?

Ok. Here's the deal.

Ur arm waves.. in both ur vids, u start off too low. like u need to raise them higher cause they look real sloppy. As for speeding up, dont. Just dont. Not quite yet at least.. just be able to do armwaves straighter and keep them more isolated just like lbz4 said. As for other things.. slowly u will know what "currents" are, its like a.. ah.. nm, il leave that up to a senior member to explain. but u gotta "tap" into it though. Soon as u almost perfect armwaves in your eyes/ppl around you, i guess ull find out soon enough. later~

Lol....u guys misunderstand. I know how to do a PROPER Arm-wave, I'm jus tryin' to find alternative ways of doin' it that could look decent, IE w/o isolation, at angles, etc. The reason I'm askin is because personally, I dislike the arm-wave that screams "I'm trying." Personally, I prefer the types of arm-waves that look like they're done at ease.....well, not so much the look, just the feel of 'em. Primo feedback tho. If I didn't know how to do 'em, and was askin' for help in that way, that'd've helped a ton.

Peace.

New style or not, you need to work on isolation and control. You won't even REALLY know what those mean until you've practiced so damn much that you can just make them out, and, even then, your mental grasp on those ideas will be superceded by an as-of-yet higher understanding. Check out some good, unique wavers like Domino, Frequency, or Funktion for inspiration and for a good kick in the ass which says, "maybe my waves aren't as good as THEY COULD BE". Keep practicin'...

FOUNDATION THEN CREATIVITY.

You can't build a castle in the sky, for its foundation must lye on land.

Think about that.

Lol...yeah, my triceps're pretty big, which's why I find isolation so uncomfortable......particularly around the elbows, which're like the lifeblood of the wave.

So what you guys're sayin' is forget about non-isolation first, and perfect isolation, eh? I agree now......I just got a comment from a friend....to quote: "You look like a raver."........NEVER AGAIN! lol Their waves're so crappy....."Comment's like a knife" is an understatement on that one. lol

Besides, I used to have half-decent isolation, but it's been like 4 months (out of the 8 or 10 I've been popping) since I've done anything isolated, so I'm REALLY out of practice.

So thanks for the advice doggs. Much appreciated. Still open to more comments if you guys still feel like commentating.

Peace.
