yeah... so... I went out there and repped my skills... ended up getting oh so close to the $75 prize, but lost to a friend of mine in the finals. Good stuff tho. Kid had solid boog foundation. Crowd just liked him more i guess. haha. It was tite tho. Met alot of the boston scene and got to compete with some of the best in the area. fun times fun times.

now... what have YOU guys done to rep yourselves and this dance?

Performed in a HS Talent Show. Didn't win cuz my music started skipping.

Performed on a CRUISE Talent Show. No prizes, but still.

Recently danced at the mall. Got kicked out.

I haven't entered anything in a while due to injury (damn water on the knee!), but have a competition coming up next weekend. It's basically me v.s. my buddies from various areas in Michigan (unless someone spectacular from out of state shows up -sometimes they do and sometimes they don't) competing for a $100 cash prize. I always lose either to my buddies James or iz, but it's all good.

At the end of the REAL summer, i got in a buncha small battles at the club in providence. battled my friend who has been dancing hiphop since she was like 3 or an age like that and won.. battled some 20something year olds at the club as well, and none of them had much. a dance at my HS this friday... plan to.. um, just check the signature. I'm still sort of looking for an in-life mentor around here to practice with. it's a bit of a lost cause. oh well.. videos among you select few () will have to do for now.

Took a bus downtown, started poppin' at the bus 'junction' I guess you'd call it (Where all the uptown busses meet all the downtown busses). Other than some old guy trying to chase me away from the front of his store (I then realized the guy was trying to battle me. lol) it went well. The guy was obviously not a hip-hop popper tho....ravers tend to look bad when they're popping beside a hip-hop styler. It was pretty decent, even tho I only did waves and robotics......Got some nice cheers....from the ladies.

Same place, a month before, did some breaking in the same place, but I won't go into detail on that (There's a point in me mentionning this...lol)

A few months from now, I'll be solo-performing in front of the school, mixing breaking and popping. I'm still in the process of choreographing it (Makes it fit the music better....altho I much rather prefer spontaneous popping to planned, choreographed popping.), but damn, that's gonna be a sick 5-10 minutes. lol

I only Popped and Breaked at my dances when I was in High School. But people at my School were real Stupid. They'd see some Idiot get in the middle of the crowd and do some wannabee Poppin and Breakin moves and they'd cheer him on. But when the REAL Poppers and Breakers went to do their thing, everyone just stayed quiet. Xcept their were sometimes where me and my bud were battalin these 2 other guys and I did several taunts that drove the crowd crazy. But that happened very rarely. Not that many people liked Breakin or Poppin at my High School. But anyways, I haven't been able to Pop or Break anywhere public since then, besides in front of some family members and some friends. Cause now I'm in a different state and I'm in College. I'm just waiting for the right opportunity to bust out.

Drifter...the final project

Breaking can be whatever you want it to be. If you want it
to be the original, structured dance that it was 20 years ago,
then it can be that for you. If you want it to be your own
limitless form of expression, it can be that for you.
The world will never agree on what exactly Breaking is...
and if the world ever does agree, then I guess I won't be Breaking anymore.
