Forearm Pike - 11-22-2003, 09:29 PM

Okay heres the scoop i posted up 2 threads so far this is my third my other one was a joke and i copied some one elses as a joke

ok the forearm pike is not that hard alot of people say its hard but if your good at handsands and you know your position, then you should be able to do it.

step1k first thing is you cant be scared, fear rips your goals apart so dont be afraid. if you fall you fall wow not a big deal so suck it up and try its the easiest thing trying isnt hard.

step2:get down on your forearms and your knees, then kick up with your back leg until you do a handstand on your forearms.

step3:now practice doing handstands on your forearms(note;call them forearmstands) once you get confurtable, try balancing on one forearm

Step4: once you got that now use the hand your not using to balance on and grap one of your ankles and hold it

once you got that work on it more so you can do it better.

note: also let people help you out,let them give you advice and comments listen to people they can help you out alot!

look for more of my trick tips.

pretty weak guide, to be honest. you didn't even say how to get from two forearms to one, you don't just lift up...and turning the hips and looking at the feet...c'mon. looking at your feet helps a lot for me at least. my pikes have fallen off for some reason but seriously.

next, I don't do forearm pikes from standing, actually I don't do forearm pikes much anyway, but this just sucks. sorry.

see, with regular pikes from handstand, you turn somewhat. it's very hard to put into words but you lean to the left, which I guess puts weight on your left hand/wrist/arm...then your right leg goes up about 45*and after that happens you'll be facing the other direction, and the left goes close to the right. the key to this is not too go too low, otherwise you just do a falling v-kick. you gotta find a height that works for you.

See, I know a lot of this might not make sense too well, so I'll make a clip tommorrow. I'll try to go slow. the same principle for forearm pikes should be true. I do forearm pikes on my right arm, regular pikes from standing on my left, so I'd be scared shitless to do em like that.

but hey, it's the same concept. give me a few days, i'll have the clip by tuesday I think.

Yeah I've had these steps down forever, but I still can't transition to a pike.

I understand that's WHAT you do, but HOW? Which leads me to:

I haven't practiced these in a while, but I wanna get back into it. Cuz I know if I can get these down, I'll get my L-kicks too. So soviet, post a clip pretty please

sorry aura I forgot to post the vid...I made it awhile ago...oh yeah I can't hold them at all...but it's just to give you the idea...the key part is really the turn...it's not so much really the hand/other arm letting go because most likely it'll just happen without thinking..least for me, if you turn...it's somewhat in the hips and legs I think

it's a move where you just kinda DO. very difficult to explain the turn. I don't do elbow pikes from standing anyway, I go from footwork and jump back like a V kick sorta...anyways enough rambling here you go aura. it's not that great but I hope it helps. view enhancements brightness on media player might help see it better too.

edit..spelling

flexikkid ... when you go and write a guide you don't just write what to do . everyone know that you need to go on one forarm bring your two legs down to face and grab one of em . even a non - bboy bystander can tell you that .
here's a guide for you on how to write a guide . you need to say what to do , break it down and explain how to do each point , how to deal with common problems that will arise , tips and pointers to perfect it , maybe a diagram / clip / pic of it and the such .

you probably could...would be harder tho...I've yet to see people go into forearm pikes straight one handed without dropping down from regulars....those i've seen...and I don't recommend it either, I've tried it and nearly got hurt LoL

aura...one thing though, when you do forearm pike, in difference to me, actually hold it too
