I have received countless pm's and aim's asking for advice and instructions for one-handed airbabys from those select few who have read my two-handed guide and progressed beyond the help it can provide. For them and those who just wanna learn one-handed, I give you, bboyhops66's second guide:
ONE-HANDED AIRBABYS
There is a picture of me doing one-handed airbabys at the bottom for you who want to see me doing it. The digital camera I have has a slight delay between when you push the capture button and when it actually takes the picture so i didn't get it perfect but i can assure you of two things: my left hand IS off the ground and I can hold this but my friend isn't familiar with the camera and its delay.
Note two things: you MUST read my two-handed guide which is here:
http://www.bboy.org/forums/showthrea...threadid=32473
and secondly, this guide is for one-handed airbabys on your right arm. If you are doing them on your left, simply switch the lefts and rights
1) Begin by getting into a two-handed airbaby (refer to my previous guide for instructions).
2) Lean your body to the right onto your right arm but try not to move your right elbow or your right knee at all in any way. This will take some practice but is necessary to learning the proper way to open your body up
3) As most of your weight is on the right, it is natural that you should pick up your left hand. However, do NOT whip it up because you will be thrown off balance
4) Point your left arm upward towards the ceiling or in the direction your right arm points. Left arm placement is not essential but i find it helps in balance.
*
Remember that when you pick your left hand up, you will lose your balance. The important thing here is to anticipate the off of balance before you take your hand away
5) As you pick your left hand up, your left leg will drift right. This is usually an involuntary action and should be because it's really f*cking hard to control the little motion i'm talking about
6) As your left leg drifts right, try your best to lean backwards because if your leg drifts too far, it won't have any room to go right and will go the only way it can: up. You will then topple head-first into a somersault. This will happen plenty while you learn this move so relax and be patient
*
The cure for the somersaulting is to lean backwards, as stated above. By leaning backwards, you move your leg downwards, instead of upwards, meaning you have more control of your balance
THE NEXT TWO STEPS ARE FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO WANT TO COMBO YOUR AIRBABYS INTO FOOTWORK SO READ THEM ONLY IF YOU INTEND TO DO SO BECAUSE THEY CONFLICT WITH WHAT YOU LEARNED IN MY TWO-HANDED GUIDE. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO READ THE NEXT TWO STEPS, YOU HAVE FINISHED YOUR AIRBABYS!
7) Once you stop drifting right and you have your left arm in a comfortable position, you've almost finished your airbaby. The last and perhaps most difficult part is closing your body up. this happens at relatively the same time as your leg drifting and your body leaning back: you must close your body up slightly.
8) The point of slightly closing your body up is that you are in a position close enough to a six-step position that you can drop backwards off your elbow and into footwork smoothly. If you try doing this with your body open, you will most certainly roll over lright instead of left and end up flat on your back which is not where you do footwork from, usually.
WELL, THERE YOU HAVE IT!! REMEMBER ABOVE ALL THAT I STATED IN MY GUIDE THAT THIS FREEZE TAKES PATIENCE AND BALANCE. YOU WILL
NOT GET THIS FREEZE IF YOU GET ANGRY, FRUSTRATED, OR IMPATIENT!
Also, here is a pic of me doing one-handed airbabys. The time delay on my digital camera prevents me from getting the picture timed perfectly with my movements but my left hand IS off the ground.
I HOPE THIS GUIDE HELPS AND PEACE
