The Airchair Transition Guide - 08-25-2009, 03:02 PM

This will be your guide for all transitions into the airchair, as it's kinda awkward to go into a chair freeze, stall for like 2 seconds and pop up.

(all hand mentions will be on a right handed basis, so if you're left handed reverse hands)

From Footwork : 2 possible ways to go into an airchair from footwork.

1. six step starting position :
1. keep your right hand planted on the ground, positioned so it's sideways like when you do an airchair.
2. Then hop off the ground pushing with both feet.
3. As you do so, push off with your left hand and whip it around for your body to turn so that you are facing upward.
4. pike and stab

2. from 3rd step of six step position :
(this is the position where your arms are behind you and your chest is facing upwards)
1. Keep your hand in the sideways, airchair position
2. Hop upwards and backwards at a right diagnol so that you can stab into an airchair
3. pike and stab

From Standing : Airchairs from standing are one of the few transitions which look hella badass but is hella hard. I hardly execute this cuz i only get correct execution once out of every...like 10 times

Anyways

1.from a standing position, start twisting your body in a CCW fasion, as if you were gonna do a 90 or an airtrack.
2.place your right hand down as you kick off lightly, you aren't doing a 90 so you don't want to spin.
3. as your body turns it should rotate so that you are facing upwards, lower yourself onto your elbow (you should be lowering yourself, not dropping)
4. pike and kick.

From the Handglide Freeze : There are two ways to do this, one using the supporting hand and one not using the supporting hand. The supporting hand way will allow you to transition in a much more effortless fashion, where as the transition which doesn't use the supporting had will let you stall much more easier after the transition.

1. Using supporing hand :
(thanks to T-stunna for the amazing guide)

2. Not using supporting hand
Here

From a Headstand : Yeah, this one is one of the more basic transitions, usually as an ending to a stacking set
1. get into a headstand position
2.kick upwards with your legs, as you do so twist your body so that you are able to stab with your right arm into your back
3. tap with your left hand and pike

From a Handstand/Air freeze/ Handhops : This is one of the most bad ass transitions into a airchair ever, courtasy of Baek lol. Anyways, the most important thing you remember is that you aren't dropping onto your arm, but you're lowering yourself onto the stab
1. Get into a handstand/airfreeze/handhops
2.right hand is planted, take your left arm off the ground and whip it in a backwards motion so that your left ar wraps around your back
3. LOWER yourself onto your elbow, do no't just drop on it
4. stab and pike

More to come XD

If ya'll have any questions, ask

p.s.: if you guys have any guides or tuts for a transition to an airchair, post em up as a reply

yeah, link to the rollback airchair guide and the thread from headstand is just about the same as going from a headstand....

Anyways few more to come:
From Airbaby
From flares (this will probably result in an airchair spin)
from backrock (basically when your on your back)

suggestions and questions anybody?

Infest. You can prolly make:
Airbaby-> AirC ( Edit: Saw that your in the proccess of making this one)
Rollback-> AirC
Halo (FRZ)-> AirC
Windmill-> AirC
Threads-> AirC

That would be very helpful.

For a sticky a camera / Video is need for every guide. After i master some of these.
(IE.. Airbaby->AirC ,Headstand-> AirC, I will gladly post a vid for you to use.) Now i just need time to session... Damn AP Biology.....

This guide refers to getting "into" Airchairs

But Infest...

Try making some getting "Out of" Airchairs Guides.
As proof said:
AirC-> Elbow(FRZ)
AirC-> One hand ( I think he is refering to Air freezes, ex Nike, Pike, Flag, 1h Handstand)
AirC - Halo(FRZ)
AirC- Headstand
AirC- Kickups
+ More

This would help alot. Most likely alot of other bboys and bgirls would benefit from this. haha.

Nice, I can do all except the handstand, but my favorite transistion is from a halo.

I don't look at other dancers as idols, I look at them as opponents.
When I see someone do something dope on the floor, I don't go screaming like a little girl, I try to do something even better.
