Get a decent mic, a set of headphones, and dl cool edit pro 2 of limewire or whatever. After that, you can either jack beats off soundclick or if you're a DJ or anything, make your own beats. And remember, its rare you gonna sound dope on your first try, but keep doing your think. And also just because you wanna venture into this audio thingy, doesn't mean you stop elevating on your text skills.

Yeah, just do stuff everyday. Download any beat that sounds good to you. Get some instrumentals. Maybe even try rapping your favorite songs, it will help you understand the feeling and what attitude you will want to have. Good luck man, hoping to see some tight drops from you soon.

Apart from the usual get a mic, get a recording/mixing program, get headphones and a beat stuff... Make sure you really listen to some songs that you like and listen to where and when they make their rhymes, their breaths and so forth. Pretty much every emcee rhymes with the same flow over a beat, and if you realise how you should be doing it you'll sound alot better from the get go.
Oh also, get a coathanger and a sock for a pop filter. And if you want to get a decent mic to start off with and have $80 lying around, i use this one

^How clear is that mic? lol and how would you construct the pop filter using a sock and a hanger? I mean i know it's possible, just not sure how..
Just thought I'd pop in since I wanna get serious as well.. never really recorded anything and I'm thinking of saving up for a mic and downloading cool edit pro. How much space on the computer does the program take up? Have only a few gigs left fro m the shitload of music on it lol...

For my pop filter i just unwound the hangerey bit of the coat hanger and then bent it into a loopish shape. After that just kinda wrapped the end bits around each other as tight as i could and ended up snapping a bit off the end by accident. Then you can just pull a sock or stockings or whatever over it.
And the quality you get without any post production you can hear on my soundclick in songs like diamond i think. Also i made a bit of an echo because I'm dumb and recorded near a wall.

Lol so basically, shape the part that isn't the hook into a circle, and then pull a sock or something over it? and not record near a wall?

Yeah pretty much. If you record near a wall it sounds sorta tinny or something. There are a few little things in cool edit pro which help very slightly post production wise that are easy to work out. Like noise reduction, adding in silence, you can add some db cut over your breaths and theres a mastering thingo that helps a little to reduce popping and stuff. Also i think adobe owns cool edit pro now and its called something else if you want the newer and probably better version.
Also, i'm sure if you google stuff to do with post production or guides to whatever program you get there may be something that can help you learn the more complex elements of getting better sound quality.

I think I know a way to get Cool Edit, not sure if it's the latest though. Yeah, I've read a couple guides on how to get the most out of the program for post production tuning.
Thanks for the info.
