Rules for the FRS - EFFECTIVE 12/10/07 - 12-10-2007, 03:05 PM

This new set of rules goes into effect today, Monday, 12/10/07. Please see the Battle Credits thread to view your credit status. Those in RED (negative credits) will not be allowed to battle until your credit status comes back to at least +1. If your name is already on the list in the Battle Credits thread then you need only meet the +1 requirement. If your name is not on the list, you are considered a “newb” and must meet the 15 post, 2 vote minimum to battle.

Any new battles started where either participant does not meet the requirements will be closed by a mod, and not reopened until both meet the guidelines.

RULES FOR THE FRS

First off, welcome to the Freestyle Rhyme Session (FRS) here on bboy.org. In addition to this thread, there are 2 more threads I suggest you look over, the Beginners Guide/FAQ and the Advanced Guide, both are stickied at the top of the forum.

For newbs - if you start a thread to the effect of, "what do yall think of this", or "new/first time, looking for feed", it will promptly be closed and/or deleted. Use the Feedback Thread for shit like that. We aint telling you not to start threads for conversation relative to the emcee element, just not to start pointless ones or start a new one where theres already one in existence.

Posting an Audio – We are finally starting to get some audios in the Audio Battles subforum and similar to battles, if you want people to take time to listen to your music and leave feedback, you should be required to do the same for others. When you post an audio, you are REQUIRED to include in that original post, the two joints you gave feed on. So basically, you have to give two pieces of feedback on other people's audios until you can post one. A mod will delete your thread if you do not post your previous two feeds.

There are 2 basic rules you need to follow in order to battle here. Please follow them otherwise your entire thread will be deleted.

1) min 15 posts to vote
2) min 2 votes to battle

The 2 basic rules apply to all types of battles, whether it be a Cypher, Audio, Topical, Diss, Verbal Violence (VV), or any other types, and whether it is a 1v1 or 2v2 or more… all battlers MUST meet the post and vote minimums or face possible disqualification or replacement of the member that doesn’t meet the minimums.

YOU MUST MEET POST & VOTE REQUIREMENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN A TOURNEY, BUT IT DOES NOT TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR CREDITS. This is because there are multiple rounds and it would be too hard to require everyone to have xx-amt of votes in addition to the minimum 2... Some tourneys require contestants to vote in tourney battles, but that is up to the tourney organizer and should be listed with the tourney rules.

How to get your post count up:
You could always do bullshit posts, but if you are serious about improving, you might want to check out the Diss The Previous Guy (DTPG) thread or for newbies who want to see how they rate and how they can improve, the Feedback Thread. There’s also the Freestyle Session or Freestyle Cypher as well as a bunch of other “game” type threads.

How to get your votes counted:
First off, please see the Beginner’s Guide/FAQ to learn what constitutes a good vote as well as to learn the different types of battles. There are always battles going on here, please check the Battle Tracker thread, stickied at the top of the forum, to see current battles. Once you have placed your vote, please visit the Battle Credits thread (formerly the Vote Tracker), and post that you have voted and provide a link to your vote.

Each vote you make and document in the BC will count as a battle credit. You can battle as many times as you have credits. The mods will update the BC when they can. Please note, a vote that has not been “accepted” by the battlers will not count towards your credit total.

In addition, we will also be initiating a Flaker Tracker within the BC. What this means is that if you no-show without any explanation, your opponent can report you as a flaker. There will be a consequence system as follows, please keep in mind that this consequence system pertains only to battles in the FRS:

1st flake = 1st warning (1 vote min to reinstate)
2nd flake = 2nd warning (2 min to reinstate)
3rd flake = probation (4 vote min to reinstate)
4th flake = suspension (5 vote min to reinstate)

Your opponent is responsible for reporting you as a flaker by posting in the Battle Credits thread. The only exception to that is if you flake multiple times or in multiple battles, a mod (or mods) can take it upon themselves to consider you a flaker.

Battles with no activity by both/all members for more than a month will be closed. In any battle cancellation, “rematches” need to be rescheduled in the battle box.
- If one person has dropped, they have the option to cancel the battle outright or to be declared “winner” by default, although I don’t know any real cats who want to win by default.
- If neither member has dropped, the battle will be cancelled outright.
- If it is a multi-round battle, with no second/third drop by either, the options are to vote on it as a single round battle or to cancel the battle outright.

How to initiate a battle:
1. Go to the Battle Box. That is the thread where you initiate a battle or accept a callout.
2. Once a callout has been accepted, the caller starts the thread, with “the caller’s name vs. the accepter’s name” as the thread title. You may also want to specify what type of battle it is in the title so readers/voters know what they’re looking at.
3. The first post of the thread should be the rules. Basic format is:

# verses/rounds
bar limit (or unlimited bars)
flipping/no flipping
vote count (typically 3-ko, or first to 5)
any special rules

4. Most importantly, unless otherwise specified, the CALLER (whoever made the callout) creates the thread and drops first. These details can be discussed by the battlers but default to above said rule.

And with all battles (especially diss/VV battles), do not take shit said in battle personally because personals make a battle a more interesting read. Beef outside of a battle should be taken to PM's or settled off board. Please note, we DO NOT condone any kind of real violence, verbal, physical or otherwise.

<--- ceezy

i'd rather have them trying something even if it is shit than just spamming up the site... at least if they rhyme to get their count up they're trying to get better...

Once while walking through the mall a guy came up to me and said "Hey, hows it going?". So I grabbed his arm and twisted it up behind his head and said "Now whose asking the questions?"
