Well im just asking. I wanna see who does and who doesn't. But, when I first started writing while listnen to a beat, my flow would get all shit. Its all good now though
Not really but it helps. Like if I have a beat stuck in my head I can just think of mad shit. Not necessarily instrumental, just listening to songs mad times.
Just a bboy standing in my bboy stance...

Something i like to do when i hear beats, and this is mainly cause i can sing
so i hear a wide variety of melodies and runs so once i get a couple in my head that i like I just utter nonsense in the melody that i have memorized and then i just start replacing it with words.
I only listen to the beat the whole way through if I need to stick with that melody, but i find that boring..
just make sure what you hear in your head matches the beat or you'll just be wasting your time
it would depend on the track...a lotta times i just write verses acapella and find a beat later. if i hear a beat i like, or some niggas is tryna get on it, then ill usually play it repeatedly and just write to it like that.

If im writing a song and picked out what instrumental i want...i usually play it over and over and over while i write. and structure out the whole song by going through certain times...
Usually when i prep myself for a text battle...i listein to alot of rap for atleast 2 day which gets me into the mood. and when im writing i put my head down and start listening to the beat...then make my own beat in my head and start writing
