Yeah. I was just thinking about it the other day. I was thinking that we should have a thread where we can get to know the emcees here a little better. Like what other hobbies they have, what they're like, where the live. Shit like that. Plus it'll be a gold mine for personals, if anyone might want to look this thread up. I'll go first:

Why you decided to emcee: I heard my friends underground band, Elemental. Decided that it would be a cool thing to do.

Influences: Tupac, Benifit, Elemental, Atmosphere, Brother Ali
Hopes: Ehhh, I hope to have fun writing and elevating. I just consider this a major hobbie, not a future life plan or anything shit like that.
Shit you've done: I've freestyled with my friends, and I plan on doing a live joint at a Halloween party next month.

Other shit: I break dance, although I'm not too good at it, I could do newbie shit like air poses and some footwork shit. I've tried pop and lock, but I'm not too good at that either. I take boxing classes and run every other day, to stay in shape I guess.

I'm a madd chill cat who parties if I'm in the mood. Came to Bboy.org (back then, Breakdance.com) in search of break dance moves, found the emcee forums months later after I started emceeing and spent most of my time here elevating.

When did i start?: pretty late actually when i was around 16 or 17

reason why i started: i was a judge of a MC battle between friends.. i watched as one cat tore apart the other kid, who was all talk and really wasnt as as good as he said.. we tried showing him, and thats when i realized it aint that hard to do. so i gave it a go and have not stopped since..

Influences... when i started, i really wasnt that much into rap.. only certain cats like biggie and maybe dmx...but as i grew, my hunger for the knowledge of hiphop grew so i lstened to more and more..currently my fav's are Precyce Politix, eminem, talib qweli, red and meth, outkast and big L to name a few..

Hopes- to get a deal with a record label, because i feel i have alot to offer from a new outlook..the game is gettin stale they need new blood

shit i've done- freestyled against cats in every borough in NY and beat alot of them, spit live in canada, was voted best martial arts competitor for the years of '96 and '97..won over 15 martial art tournaments with in a year, currently tryin to get in a studio and produce some real rawness..

other shit- im a 1st degree black belt in Pan american Goju, will be testin for second degree in dec. also hold belts in judo and aikido.. play basketball pretty decently, me and my team won the hoop- it- up tourney not too long ago..was also a running back/wide receiver for a time in Florida (miramar high)

Hopes: To continue to find enjoyment and fulfillment in hip hop well into my geriatric days, that hip hop doesn't become anymore commercially motivated and that it reverts moreso to the artform of personal expression and enjoyment

Shit you've done: nothing professional, i've never had any desire to make money off something i like doing.. if i did put an LP out it'd be for exposure

Other shit: Interest in the martial arts, i box for enjoyment, used to be into hardcore bodybuilding but can't find the time now i'm in a fulltime job. Like foreign movies like Lone wolf and cub, martial arts flicks..

Started Emceeing: off 'n on freestylin since about april 2002 (alotta off). Writin off 'n since the last half of 2002 (again, alotta off time).

Why you decided to emcee: I've been into hip hop for a long time and I thought freestyling was dope....wanted to do it for awhile. Then I met this kid at my school (counter tek, he's posted a couple times on here) who also wanted to freestyle but didn't have much experience and we just started drivin around with beats real loud, drinkin beers 'n freestylin (although it was real wack at first hehe).

Influences: Blueprint, Living Legends (esp. Grouch), Brother Ali, Pep Love, Aesop Rock, Dos Noun, Illogic (too many cats ta mention) and lately I've been influenced by emcees I've come across on the internet like Nimrod, DZK, Invasion, Peter Parker........and I've been influenced to progress alot by the cats on here like Razor, Boogie, Poptart, Awe, Hang, Razz, Sacred, actually most of the regular heads on here motivate me to elevate my shit......and .although I've migrated to the underground I can never deny how much influence Wu Tang has had on me since I first started listenin ta "rap" back in the day.

Hopes: I'm hopin ta get some tracks together with my homie counter teknology and release a little EP sometime in the semi-near future. Eventually I'd like to have a little show.....and as for long term goals.......someday far off in the future I'd like to visit europe and have a show set up every week or two ta help pay for expenses and ta peep the scene over there.....

Other shit: I can pop ok. I used to be real into it but I've been slippin on regular practice so I'm most def still a newbie. I can beat box at a functional level (i.e. decent enough for other cats ta freestyle over) but for the longest time I haven't improved so I don't work at it very much......

ummm, I'm bored at work so I'll drop a little of my history: used ta live in oregon, moved down ta arizona when I was 16 (it wasn't my choice, I was just gettin too crazy for my parents in high school). Decided I didn't wanna start high school in a new state so got my GED and started at a local community college.....did that for a couple years then finished in May. Gonna be hittin up Arizona State University in January.

I found breakdance.com when I was looking for popping forums....stumbled across the FRS. The first time I ever wrote any verses was here and I'd say out of everything I've ever written, about 95 - 98% of it has been here.

Always been more of a cypher cat. Always down ta drop positivity in my verses/freestyles. I've only ever been in one live battle (luckily I won so I'm 1-0 woohoo). I don't know, I guess battles just don't appeal to me as much. I'm sure I'll eventually get into a couple audio battles on this site but I don't know when or against who (I think a team battle would be pretty tight). I'd be real down ta work a collabo track with some cats on here but there's been alotta talk about it and it's never happened (with the exception of the Awe/Razor track) so we'll see.....

Why did I decide to start MCin?: been into the whole hip hop scene ever since I could remember. My older brothers, were in the first bboy crew out here back in like 1983 to 1987 or so. So I was around alot of cats that Emcee at parties n shit. just thought it was tight, so I decided to do it.


Influences: man theres a grip!! Chino XL (lol!!) Aesop, Jedi Mind, Grouch, xololanxingo (shape shifters), Two Mex, Kool Keith, dirty spoons, Minimum Wages, Jungle, Pitch Black.... to name a few..

Hopes: man, just to live a long life n shit. I'm already gettin married to a beautiful woman, gettin paid to dance professionally. Have the illest crew, and friends in the world. Dont have too many hopes man, just live life. I dont MC to make money, not trying to get a deal or anything, just do it cuz its fun and I love it.

shit i've done: been in my share of Emcee battles in front of a lot of heads. Havent really done like a live show for emceein. done hell of a lot of live dance shows (on stage)

I've been boxing since I was about 8 or 9. still doing it. I teach dance classes in a bunch of studios. I'm involved in three major dance companies. I've danced for Black Eyed Peas, Mystic, and Rahzel. Love to box and wrestle, and spend time with my lady. I've also been DJin for about 7 years or so. Also been doing graffiti since I was about 10. love that ish!! Just try to stay busy ya know. Live life to its fullest while I'm still livin it.

Well, I'm not from Nicaragua, it's just where I live now, I'm more half American and half Nicaruguan. I was born in Miami, so whatever, I guess I'm half latino. :P
