i posted up a rough of my part of Life is Unfair collab.....waiting on anyone else who wants in on it.........

btw that was a pretty hysterical battle between the two........

Once while walking through the mall a guy came up to me and said "Hey, hows it going?". So I grabbed his arm and twisted it up behind his head and said "Now whose asking the questions?"

^Yeah I too read that, it was pretty big deterrent for me, also the fact that they say they're looking for the most "marketable" product just screams "LET'S RAPE THE MUSIC FOR MONEY". After reading the whole contest rules section, I doubt I'll waste my time with that, the exposure isn't worth not winning and if I by some freak chance win with my unmarketable voice, my song'll just get stolen by them.

For sure. The exposure they're giving isn't even that great. Now, if you could find some local contest in your city that'll give radio spins for the winner, that'd be something to jump on.

To be honest though, you guys should stop doing contest verses and just do some legit tracks. It's my opinion of course, but anybody can drop a random sixteen for a contest that tells you what the concept is. It takes a real emcee to drop an entire fresh song with an original concept.

To those that say beauty's in the eye of the beholder/
Beauty is everywhere, you're just to stupid to notice/

Discuss.*

Also, I agree with spell with the whole tracks thing.

*The above bar is an idea that really didn't mesh with the rest of the song I'm writing so I thought I'd throw it out there for you guys to discuss since I found it rather controversial (Can beauty be found everywhere? Is there a limit to subjectivity? etc.).

By the way. what shadowville say about them, owning the master recording etc is bullshit. Copyright law doesn't work that way. The person who WROTE the lyrics, owns the copyright to said lyrics unless they sign an official document to say otherwise. Similarly, those who actually record the master recordings own teh copyright there, UNLESS the artist pays the person who performed the recording (usually a producer or sound engineer - and I mean producer, not beat maker) the only thing they own is the copyright to their beat, nothing more, nothing less. SO ignore their bullshit.

IIRC their little "rules" thingy also mentioning making the artist legally bound to sign any document necessary to grant them control or something along those lines.

@ringer: Considering it's basically a mainstream appeal contest, I figure if by some freak chance one of us wins, that would mean that the track has enough appeal to the masses to be marketable.
