Cool Six step Guide for extreme newbies. - 01-16-2006, 12:26 AM

Trouble with six steps are way too common and though it is easy to learn the move, it may take time to master it.

Heres the golden tip. Learn it slowly before advancing. Soon u'll find urself getting faster and much more stable and thats gonna look cool.

Heres the silver tip. In the I-noobs video, he kept his leg perfectly straight all the time but hell, don't follow that! You gotta keep your legs a bit curved to create fluidity and to gain the sweeping effect.

Heres the bronze tip. Actually this is how u gotta do it if u are Counter Clock Wise (CCW), if u r clockwise swap the directions

Starting position. Sit on your legs in a crab position. U will look like a crab or better a frog with ur hands a bit in front of u to ur sides. U may lean backward to make the sweeping motions a lot easier (Sweeping motions are explained later in the guide)

Step1. Keep ur left leg stationary and 'sweep' ur right leg to ur left leg. When u do this lean to ur right hands and unplant ur left hand. Sweeping means you gotta drag your legs in a curve to ur left leg instead of just keeping it there. If u just kept it there instead of sweeping u may look like a spider tap-dancing

Step2. Now keep ur right leg stationary and step ur left leg behind u so as to make both legs in an L shape. Still u don't have to keep ur legs straight. Let it be a bit curved. U will now look like in the starting position of back spin but ur butt will still be out in the air instead of u sitting down. U will still be leaning to your right hand.

Step3. Keep ur left leg stationary and ur right leg should be 'sweeped' to reach the same position of ur left leg. Now you will be facing the floor in all fours in a push-up position (invert bridge). All ur hands should be planted on the floor.

Step4. Keep ur right leg stationary and sweep ur left leg so as to reach the L position again, this time in the other side. This time ur left hand should be planted on the ground but right hand should be unplanted. The position is same as in the step 3 but in the other side.

Step5. Keep ur left leg stationary and let ur right leg at the same place where u kept ur right leg in the starting position of the six step. This means that ur right leg is back on the old crab position.

Step6. Keep ur right leg stationary and sweep ur left leg to the left so as to come back in the same starting position. Now u r back in the crab position and this is ur first round.

Continue the same steps again.

This is the basic technique involved in the 6 step. Here r a few pointers or tips to make your six step outstanding among others

Tips:
1 Keep ur legs a bit curved. Keeping ur legs straight may look sick.

2 The sweeping motion should always be a sweeping motion.

3 The movement of ur left leg when going to the push-up position (invert bridge)(Step 2) and the movement of ur right leg when going to the half-crab position (step 5) should not be projected out to the spectators. Those movements should be very fast.

4 Practice urself to make the six step look like u r running around urself in a circle instead of going through slow steps.

5 Try to be more stable. This may take time.

6 After u gain more strength, use fingers instead of planting the whole palm. Using ur fingers means, ur fingers and ur thumb-tips should be completely touching the floor. But ur palm should stay in air(Refer I-Noobs Guide). Soon u can go to a level in which u may use only ur fingertips.

7 The term planting means keeping ur hand on the floor.

8 When sweeping, don't drag ur shoes, instead let it be raised a bit of the floor.

9 Learn 6steps in CCW and CW directions because u'll have to go in both directions evertime u break.

Thats all i can tell u

Keep practicing.

I didnt make this guide for nothing. A bboy asked help on six steps and i wrote a mini-guide for him without thinking that there is a separate section 4 footsteps. So i moved the guide to the footstep section and gave the link to that thread to the bboy.

^^ I wouldn't be reffering to him as a "newb", if I myself was also a newbie. You make it sound somewhat negative and you make yourself sound like a pro.

But props on writing the guide and trying to help, I didn't read it, but I'm sure it will help people out.

"..But I never pre-heat, I toss the pizza right in the oven and say, 'Pre-heat this, bitch'.."

An Indian step, to a knee drop, to a six step, to a three step, to a baby freeze does not equal style, so don't diss power because you don't have any... They are both important.

It's alright, some parts are kinda hard to understand (but then again, text guides are often hard to comprehend)... In the 3rd step, when you say "invert bridge position", I think you should change that to simply "push-up position".

It's not that big of a deal, I just noticed in your profile you're saying that you are a newb, so yeah. But don't worry about it.
