Since i stoped breakin' for a while and got into tricking I've gotten better at tricking the breakin sadly.
Now a front flip i don't think i need to explain it... So moving on. Front flips are a gymnastic move and are accually not to difficult to get if you just go for it. The myth is that to do flips you need a mad vertical jump.FALSE In and flip you have several principle to apply to them 1. Maximum Peak and Height Principle 2. Blocking 3. Center of gravity 1. The Maximum Peak and heights Principle in lamense terms means you stall in the air. So you initiate your flip get to the peak of the jump and.... then do the flip. Easy as that. 2. A more important aspect is Blocking. Which is getting your feet in front of you when punching the ground to increase your vertical direction. So for example you take a racket ball and throw it straight forward at a 45 degree wall the ball will change its current path straight up. Heres an ilistration to explain. http://www.bboy.org/gallery/showphot...to=59250&cat=2 Imagine you are the ball and your legs are the angle of the wall. So when you punch at the ground to start the flip have your feet slightly out in front of you to turn your horizontal momentum into vertical momentum. 3.Canter Of Gravity - Your center of gravity is at your torso this means the tighter tucked you are to your torso the fast you flip rotaion. So the tighter you tuck the quicker you rotate that is that. Now a front flip is 1. The Jog (not sprint!) 2. The hop 3. The jump 4. The tuck 5. The landing NOW THE FLIP!!!!!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Read through all of this tutorial before practicing a front flip 2. Start at a jogging pace if you sprint you will get no height and fall on your back. Which hertz so don't be a jackass 3. On your last step take a hop forward getting those legs in front of you. 4. Punch the holy hell out of the ground. Your arms should be up above your head. Jump high as you can use the entirety of your legs all the way through your toes to get the maximum height. 5. Now once you peak your jump throw down your arms while simultaneously tucking your legs to your chest. You can try and grab your legs if you like but really that comes with practice because getting height in your front flips takes a good deal of time. 6. Now your in the air flying upside down and your thinking OH SHIZZzZ. But be calm and collect. Once you have executed the tuck comes the untuck (duh) and landing since you've done the hard part when you get all the way around untuck you legs. 7. Now the landing not much to say about the landing because you can't see the ground. Once your all the way around and starting to untuck you'll find the ground just practice. Now i have most likely left out details if anyone has questions or comments please let me know. RemembeR -Jog punch in front of ya jump high tuck at your peak untuck and land.- - NEVER SPRINT - Punch hard and in front of you - Wait till you peak your jump - Comte completely - Practice Sorry i don't have a vid because i don't have a cam but you can go on youtube and theres tons of them. ight thats it from me good luck and if you need help lemme know. |

Overall, I think it's a good guide. There are a few things I dissagree with. But it's okay, so I aint gonna front.

No... Its because of your take off... OR, you just suck at tucking. But if you are tucking decent - knees to chest, than the real problem lies in your body alignment at take off... Your shoulders should be behind your feet, not infront. To me, you seem to be bending at the hips and shoulders forward (as if it makes your rotation easier to execute possibly your case... fear).
SO, put your feet infront and shoulder back, and punch hard and swing arms up but dont arch your back or your rotation will take longer. Hollow body at take off.. But do a few drills to see if your going straight up and not forward... DO these drills and grab a mat and throw your tucks on a mat.. |

Nice! I didn't think it was possible to extend a few motions into many paragraphs. but it ciertainly was helpful. I'm not gonna try it though. I already broke enough walls!
