Whenever I try to do one I just end up landing on my arse, I have tried jumping really high and tucking but I never get round in time. Can someone help? (I am new here and have been looking at stuff for a few days now but this is my first post)

I havnt read anything so just giving sum quick tips:
handspring: have a really good jump into handstand and be able to go into bridge (crab) from handstand Front summy: its basically a tuck jump (jump with knees going to chest) and rolling forward... but really quick! |

Well, i can do all of these moves...only issue i have is...i have learned 2 different kinds of front tucks. One from JUMPING, and one from Punching. The punching method gets you around faster, and the jumping method, in which your arms are down by your sides, then are thrown UP as you jump...that methods gets you more AIR time and eventually, with practice, a more controlled flip. you can do either way...just, the punching method as you have shown, is a hell of a lot easier that jumping...which takes more guts and more power.

WOW! First thing I can say after read this - AWERSOME TIPS! Although I didn't try them yet. I'll try some things for my front handsprings today and for the front tuck - a lil later. I think this'll work so THANKS FOR THIS!
*using CAPS LOCK to get some attention * THIS GUIDE IS GREAT FOR THOSE WHO GOT THESE MOVES NOT FOR THE ONE WHO TRYING TO GET THEM!!!My part of tips if you like :1) The key parts TO GET front handsprings is to learn these: - Fall into bridge from a handstand (this will play a GREAT deal to overcome fear and trying to vary your technique after!); - Mastering handstands HELPS VERY WELL; - THE SWING is the KEY to this move (I mean to PERFORM it, not to make it perfect ), so SWING HARD.Don't even think which leg is your leading leg. As someone mentioned before - you must perform fhs with the same leading leg as you kick into regular handstand! That's just it! 2) The key parts TO GET the front tuck: - Have a good place to practice! If you trying to learn this move on the hard ground - this MIGHT lead you to serious injuries if you're simply not prepared well enough overall. It's better to start in a gymnastic gym, on the crash-mates or something. For my own experience I can say - I learnt it on the grass, trying to flip from a higher part of the ground to lower one. But I think it's not the best way - I've many unsuccessful landings in the begining (also I didn't even knew the technique once I started ).- Start with your arms up right before the flip and SWING them while you're in the air! Without a good swing you have all prospects to land on your ass. - TUCK hard! The smaller you are - the more speed in your rotation you have! I know it's difficult to keep yourself tucked because of fear but TRY it! P.S.: Some posts in this thread are REALLY bad. Listen what Mali-Bootay said not the others. The majority here can do the move but CANNOT teach! ![]() |
