flare help: moving around (clip) - 11-08-2003, 03:20 PM

why do I move around alot? I asume i plant my hands down too damn fast (and too hard because it makes sounds...). Is this right?

Yeah man. You seem to be a bit worried about failure...lol

Whether subconscious or not, you got the flares man, so you don't have to put your hands down so fast...your momentum'll carry you....I'd say at the speed you were goin', wait an extra quarter to half second when you put your hands down.

Yes, to fail would be hell. Certain people are getting better every day and I must surpass them.

I was thinking something look wrong with my leg movement, I just couldn't figure what. Sadly, it is, I am kicking. But I think can change that.

Sowwie guys but can i squeeze in my prob..cuz no one answred my prob in my other post so hereit is.when i kick my right leg under my left leg and i put my left hand down. Im doin something wrong because everytime i put it down , i put it down hard and it really hurts.. N i try my best to make my arms locked but the more locked the more it hurts. thax yo!

Your 'problem' is nothing to do with speed, it is a common gymnastic term called 'czeching your flare'. It happens when you don't always face the same wall when flaring and you rotate from the opposite direction your flaring.

This technique can help you get more rotations, and is taught when gymnasts first learn virgin flares. It is easier because it doesn't require you to stretch your legs as much, as you arrive in back support(front of flare) slightly 'earlier'.

It is a good technique to learn flares with first, although ideally you should always face same point. Saying this, a LOT of pro b-boys czech their flares, some don't.

The stage you are at now is you have succesfully managed to figure out how to swing ur legs, but you need to add more hip and upperbody strength to heighten ur flares. peace

Wow, really? So I'm on the right track. I'm excited that I have finaly figured out how to do a few flares. Seeing that some people czech their flares I need not worry about it no more, plus my friends like it. I will continue to practice my flares with your tips in mind. Thanks for the infromation.

Storm's flares are the best example of this "czeching" as you call it.

Most people do this at least a little bit when they first learn them. I rotate about 30 degrees in the other direction with each flare I do these days. This isn't much but i've found it makes the back part of my flare look a lot better when i do this.

Sure, if you need any more detailed help I would be glad to help you..I know flares very well and know exactly what each swing does, techniques etc..
