Need some tips on drops... -

Okay well there's this drop I'm trying to do where you kinda land on your shoulder and upper arm (and just that) then you freeze it in what looks like a L-kick or Nike position for your legs (I saw some b-boys do it).
The thing is, I'm a bit of a wuss heh. But actually I have a reason to be, because I don't know how to drop that way safely. It kinda hurts when I land even from a kneeling position (and those guys did it by jumping from a standing position). I want to know how to soften the landing a bit. It particularly hurts the shoulder, and I'm afraid I might hit my head if I land wrong. ~_~
Any help would be good.
