DROPS SUB-FORUM
This sub-forum is dedicated to bboy drops.

Drops are sometimes also refererd to as the get-down or go-down.

A drop, is the movement that moves you from your toprock, into your footwork. (See those sub forums for more information)

Technically, a coin-drop is not "a drop" - if you want to learn, or need help with coindrops, then use the windmill sub-forum instead.
(Windmills are the closes relative of coindrops since they both use a neckmove.)

added by AlphaTrion:
There seems to be a lot of confusion on this forum as to what exactly constitutes a Drop. So to repeat what Stiff said:

A drop is any transition that gets you from a standing position down to the floor for footwork. It is NOT just a coin drop or suicide. I agree 100% with Stiff. The Coindrop is NOT a drop at all, it is windmill variation. As such, anymore posts about coindrops will be moved to the windmill sub-forum.

Now, to me, the drop is one of the single most important parts of the dance. Like I've said before, b-boying isn't about the moves...it's about what comes between them. Your transitions and your execution is what really shows a knowledge of the dance. You should have as wide a variety of drops as possible. If in every single set you're doing the exact same drop, that shows a lack of creativity and it shows you haven't studied what all is out there.

Here's a very small of the drops I know of, some of which already have guides on this forum, some of which are used by me and my crew and are names that we've given them. If they don't have guides you should be able to work out how to do them just from reading the name:

Step in (the simplest drop...you put your hand down and just walk down to your six-step. This is usually the first one people do.)
Knee Drop
Sweep Drop
Back Sweep (w/ multiple variations)
Corkscrew
Hip drop
Bronco drop

...in reality the list is endless. Use your imagination and train on drops just as much as you train on toprock, footwork, freezes or anything else.

GENERAL RULES
These sub-forums are meant for teaching, learning, discussing and troubleshooting specific parts of the bboy and uprock styles of dance.

Before you post a new thread/topic about a movement, look through the more recent posts and see if it has already been answered.

If you want to learn the move, don't post a thread saying "teach me" - look at the existing tutorials, try the move, and then if you have a specific problem, feel free to ask about it.

DO NOT SPAM.
DO NOT FREEPOST.
DO NOT POST OFF TOPIC.

Anyone breaking those three rules, or giving advice/instruction about a move they clearly do not understand will have their post deleted.

This area (the moves forum) has long been chock-full of bad advice, and people teaching techniques that are totally wrong and at best will slow down your learning drastically, at worse they could lead to serious physical injury.
These new measures are in the best interests of anyone learning moves from this site.

Thanks a lot...

The Mod team.

A bboy without style, is like a broken pencil.

There's just no point.
