I think I read somewhere that cueing on a CD Turntable, you cue by the push of a button. What's the fun in that???

So, you said they are harder to cue, and now you're saying they're not? Ahh, whatever. I'm confused anyways. I say fuck the CD Turntables, they're less exciting if you're doing beat juggling and back queing. And they cost...like you say about $1,100, which is about double for a single Technics.

i saw this and just thought i'd recomend some software which is handy for djaying if u want to make ur own tracks.

Propellerhead Reason - the newer the better

Propellerhead Rebirth - the predeciessor of reason, works almost like a virtual drum/melody machine - can also be linked into reason

Cubase VST - the pro version of cubase - use it for adding audio tracks, mixing reason tracks, midi and an awesome array of digital instruments

Sibelius - newer the better - converts musical scores into midi tracks

Cakewalk Pro - Similar to cubase but cheaper and not quite as good.

Logic Audio Pro Platinum - DOPE audio sequencing program, good for recording and editing sounds and samples.

personally i think these are the best and as well as myself, my mentor DJ Cristoph uses these, as do Oakenfold, Tiesto, FatboySlim and many other pro djs.

Peace.

the best thing about it is the tactile sensation of your finger on the vinyl, you can't replicate the sound of the stylus picking up the track with a CD - it's the same comparison between driving with an auto or manual transmission.

i know what you mean, though, anyway. more bang for your buck with CD's - but I still don't regret selling my CDJ-500S's.

i have a question about the cost between the CD and Vinyl...
i just started lookin at prices and what not and to me it seems that the CD deck are more expensive but you dont have to buy records and carry around a huge crate of stuff.... but the vinyl is a cheaper turntable... oh and about how much do records cost...?
for a beginner what would be the best to learn on? and the cheapest way tooo....?

It depends on what exactly you want them for. Some people (i'm not saying you) want tables just as a status thing, just so they can be like "yo Im a DJ". And yes it's way easier to get what you want on a cd and easier to carry a book of cd's than crates. any way if you want to scratch and juggle and all that fancy stuff just make sure you get a good pair of direct drive turntables and a mixer with a good fader and curve adjustment. I'm not going to sound like a broken record and repeat "you need 1200's" yes their great and I wouldn't trade them for anything. But If your good and you practice your gonna be good on whatever you get your hands on. And if you suck you'll suck on gold 1200's and a $1,000 mixer. But the main thing no matter what is the music. Study your music. Collect your music. It might sound stupid but before you run out and spend your money on a fancy setup, build up your arsenol. And to answer your ? on how much records cost they range from 10 cents to hundreds of dollars. But thats where the love is. DITC. Find a record for a dime and its worth a million to you. youll never get the feeling from cd's that you will finding gems on vinyl. so no offense to cd dj's well take offense if you want but the only time you should even play a cd is in the car (until they invent a car record player). Touching the music, feeling the grooves seeing the break, dusty dirty hands, reading labels and linear notes, thrift stores, flea markets,
yard sales, record stores, searching, thats where it's at. Not downloading your music on to a cd. or pulling out a book full of cd's and being like "yo check out this break, its mad rare, I dowloaded it off napster". Hope I helped a little bit. And If anyones offended that means your guilty. But I know all real dee jay's will agree.
