hey im interested in djing and plan on getting more into it when i come back from iraq and i been looking on turntablelab.com and was wondering is those dj packages are worth the money? thanks

it depends on how serious you are and how much you are willing to spend. id check ebay or craigslist (depending on where you are after you leave iraq) for used tables; do some online research. also use the search bar on this forum for older threads on people just starting out on the decks, you might find some good tips there.

alright i will look more into it. as far as where i am going when i get back. i am going back to nc. so hopefully a friend that i know that djs will help me out if he is still there

It ends up like this. Either you get something really good like Technics now. Or you get a cheaper package and end up upgrading later. Another plan is just to get 1 Technic and use a cd player or mp3 player instead of another table until you can more money.

i got no bills man i can afford it plus im in iraq right now and i got 3 months to keep up the research. money is not a factor. i appreciate the info im gettin from everyone

Get a cheap mixer. Mixers are important. Get one of the cheap $99 ones if you have to. Two channels.

The standard for the Hip Hop DJ is 2 technics, vestax or rane "scratch" mixer, and serato scratch live. Technics are tanks so buying used turntables is recommended. I would suggest you get a cheap vestax 05 or 07 mixer to start off with, then move on to a Rane 56 or 57 after.

My word of advice is to do your research first and make sure you are willing to spend the time and energy into the artform.

Most importantly you must have a good ear for music! Can't stress that enough!

You must know what songs are gonna be hits before they even reach the public. Not everyone has that skill.
