No Offense but... - 01-29-2004, 10:30 PM

If these DVDs are anything like the VHS, I wouldn't purchase them... especially the power moves one.... The headspin guide was basically "Go into a headstand. Wind your legs. Now try spinning." It's really bad... I didn't learn a single thing off the power moves video... as for the basic moves video, I learnt step 6 was wrong in my sex step, that's it... I guess if you're totally new and can't go online a lot to get help, you should purchase the begginner moves vid, because you might get Top Rock, 6-step, and handglides out of it... all the reviews for the VHS's says it was the bomb, and that blew smoke up my ass, so how do I know you're not doing that this time?

Click Here For a link to the Headspin clip.

Download the clip and decide for yourself.

You can see that there is more to the clip than just "Go into a headstand. Wind your legs. Now try spinning."

The Headspin is an advanced move. If you want to master it, you will need to put in a lot of practice. But don't start off by trying to do the Heaspin. You've got to get your foundations down first.

The focus of the DVD is on the basics, so we go in depth on Toprock, Footwork, Freezes and basic spins. If you can't manage to get the Headspin down, it's not the end of the world. It's better to sick with the foundations to start with.

hey man I didn't mean to sound so harsh on it... but I'm just saying that for me personally, I didn't get much out of it, so how do I know I would get stuff out of the DVD... but i've seen a couple tutorials you post and they look like they go into way better detail ... but too late lol... I already know stuff like top rock and the baby freeze and all that... but hey, looks dope for begginners I guess...

Looking at the clips. I get the impression that this DVD is a cross between the DMC BBoy Foundations video and The Freshest Kids.
May be mistaken but that's the impression I get.

It's always good to have a video with foundation instructions around. I've been dancing for 4 years and STILL watch my DMC Foundations video. Always always always good to go back to basics.

J-Man - You've sent me a bunch of clips, and in all honesty I think your toprock would benefit from seeing this DVD. This breaks down toprock and uprock like I've never seen done before, and that's just from the clips.

Want my advice? I think you should buy it.

Peace.

I haven't sent you a vid for a long time and it's not worth the money since I wouldn't learn a whole lot from it and I live in Canada so it's even more...

There is ALOT more to pretty much all the power you made instructions for. If your gonna put in a move, don't half ass it otherwise just leave it out. And in the vid it says you should have your fingers facing away from you face??? That don't make sense... I never heard of that before. Why would that do anything?

Chucky - do you REALISE who those people are? The people you are saying aren't making sense in their instructionals are some of the best.

If you think about it - saying "fingers away from the face" makes a LOT of sense - the direction your hands are poining in makes a HUGE difference to learning a new move.

If you'd ever taught anyone you would know that.

Yea finger direction makes a difference by why would it when your tapping??? It would be easier to have them face your face instead of away from your face because if you have them away from your face you need to to have your arms kind of weird.

Everyone I know pushes fingers out.
Fingers in is fine for headstand, but when you are spinning there's a lot of strain on wrists if you are fingers in.
