My advice is to read the stickies, which basically have almost all the important advice anyone can possibly give you.

I'm just another up-and-comer paying dues.
I think I'm possibly the slowest learner on all of bboy.org haha.

just make sure you put soul into what you do, make it your own style, but start with the basics. continue to grow good luck

BBOYING IS THE MOST ORIGINAL DANCE IN THE WORLD. THE FORM CAN BORROW FROM ANY OTHER DANCE, SPORT, MARTIAL ART OR MOVIE, JUST AS LONG AS YOU APPLY BBOY FLAVOUR IN THE APPROACH.

watch lots of bboy vids, i'd recommend for learning hardcore foundation and style then building on power (i recommend this because, this course of action will build your body's strength and endurance and help in the long run give you better power in my opinion and you will be more rounded).

Focus, Born, Casper, Elmo, Tyquan, Alien Ness, and Sala are some of the peeps i watch for inspiration.

Don't watch a lot of bboy videos, besides tutorials I mean.

If you watch too many, you will bite their moves and you won't be original.

Actually I agree with InnerG's statement...... Watching videos of bboys in my area realli helps me because I dont realli go to jams so it realli helps me to see what the bboy scene is like..... Watching videos on youtube helps you to get a general idea of how all the "famous" bboys are doing and stuff n gives an idea of wat skill level it takes to compete at that level. Of course I would be lying if I said I've never bitten anything because I have..... But still that doesnt mean you'll bite every single thing you watch..... (That was speaking for myself)

My advice:

1. Practice hard when you practice
2. Try to find some bboys in ur area
3. Read stickies
4. Be determined
5. Have fun
6. Stay humble

Peacee

~stickies of course, they're sticky for a reason lol.
~def hook up with ppl in your area, they'll be able to help you easier than ppl on the forums likely, since they'll be there to actually coach you, not just type some directions out
~read other 'beginner' threads/watch their vids. since you'll both be likely coming from the same place, (experience wise) you might notice some things that you need to work on as well that you didn't think of. there will be posts from other members there, so you can sorta take that advice for yourself.
~on top of that, you might want to search through the online battle forum for people's toprock and footwork battles, not to bite, but to see what kinds of things ppl are doing as a whole battle and you can sort of see if you're going in the right direction. (once again, NO BITING!)

other than that stuff, just practice, and be smart about practice

Disagree, watching a video doesn't make you bite moves.. biting moves makes you bite moves :P

Sometimes I watch videos just to get my determination up, I mean lets face it, those of us who want to really improve and are out of high school are dedicating most of our free time outside of school/work to breaking... It's not easy keeping that kind of dedication, the more you see your goals the better you can push yourself.

Also I love to watch different people to see what TYPES of moves I want to learn, for example I see someone do a bunch of jumping, I hit the floor and imagine the ways I can jump. Let it inspire you.

Yeah, guess you're right =P.
I just have a bud that watches many bboy vids such as L10 or Dan Dan, and he bites his move or does them way similar without even knowing it. Bboy vids on Youtube is his television.
