Gettin' in the groove - Music - 02-07-2006, 01:15 PM

Hey !

Since nobody started this thread here, I decided to take the initiative. From my point of view, learning the basics of breaking is not about which move you start with, but with the music you can get your hands into. Afterall, it is impossible to learn toprocking, unless you got any music to break to !

When I first started, I had no idea about the music, so it took me almost half a year to get my hands on some breakbeat. Mostly 'cos I didn't know any song names or artists, or where to look them for.

Hence, this thread. Everyone is invited to jump in. The idea is that you enlist one single song that you think represents the breakbeat genre. Remember to keep it simple. Low BPS and easy-to-break music is what we're looking for, since this is a beginner's thread. Just one nomination per person so this thread doesn't get massively flooded. Also, songs where the "beat" is clearly distinguishive are good. They help the beginner to get that body moving.

As for obtaining these tracks, ask a friend, use Google, visit local music store, browse the net, or use the non-legimate channels. But don't post the actual MP3/WMA/WhateverFormat files here, don't think the moderators would like it.

As for my suggestion: The Herbalizer - The Blend.

Enjoy !

Breakin' for fitness & fun.

personally an easy song to break to is "Cut out to FL - Rjd2".

the reason i say this is that it has a slow tempo, loud beat, very defined, but has the open-endedness to be double beated (2steps per beat) because it has a slow enough speed for more advanced people to kick it up a notch. not to mention that if your DAMN GOOD, you can do advanced moves like flares, or faster moves like mills in slow motion to go with the beat and that just straight up looks RAW!
