having started fairly recently (like 2 months or so) i'll just tell you what i did
1. read: look up history of breakdancing, find video clips of different moves, there's plenty of those in this site's gallery. once you feel like you have sort of an understanding of the dance, start doin it yourself
2. toprock: its hard to explain this move, its the dancing done upright, before you get on the floor. there's no real set way to do this, just go with the beat and work on coordination
3. footwork: 6step, 4step, 2step, 12 step are all pretty much essential, and are all kinda similar to each other. these are the moves that look like running on the floor. start with 6step
4. freezes: self-explanatory, different freezes are just still positions in what appear to be difficult to hold stances. a handstand is the closest to a freeze you probably know of, but you might wanna pick up a few
that's a good start, and it should take a few weeks, maybe a month
