new people...PLEASE!!! (sign in for new bboys/bgirls) -
08-21-2003, 04:03 AM
ok half of this entire beginner board page is a whole bunch of people saying "hi i'm new, i need help." or "i really, suck, can u help?" how about another common one, "i can 6step, what next?"
we have SOOO many of these threads around, and honestly, we only need one. every one of these threads has the same replies in each one...so guys, just read up on the newb guides, there's tons of helpful info there, and if you need ideas on what to do next, theres about 8 threads on this page alone - .- ... read up on what people have to say to others with the same questions you have. if ur just posting to introduce urself, do it HERE. i made this same thread in the bgirl section, and it saves so much space since we don't have every new person creating their own thread. this way more people can get answers to specific questions.

Dont bite the hand that feeds u, eventually everyone helping u will get annoyed...jesus.
Beginners giving beginners tips without understanding what they are saying is probally one of the worst ways to spread KNOWLEDGE.....which is the key to anything in life.

well lots of new kids just don't know where to start, so they think if they state their situation, people will tell them what to do. but that's not the case...i was in their shoes a month ago. i still suck, but i'm not running around asking people what i should learn next. if they just get a hang of it, and have a little confidence in themselves theyll do fine. so here's a thread where they can say hi to everyone in the same situations as they are. most of the newb posts are just introductions anyways. hey, i did it too when i started. by now i think theres enough threads that say u should start with toprock, freezes, 6step and so forth. the reply is ALWAYS the same. we shouldn't be wasting our time on questions already answered.
o yea, does someone wanna post a list of very beginning moves, just one please =) maybe u can do it azn, or the 6000post man. that way people won't keep asking for a list.
& newbies!! i know it's hard to get started, but don't worry, you'll find ur rhythm, and don't worry about the assholes on this site (there's alot). people will eventually help you.
SHISHKABOB - welcome, btw. good luck bboying

haha, evryone who ask, i give them the same exact response for what movez ta learn
footwork- 6-step
toprock- basic one
freeze- turtle freeze and handglide freeze
power- swipez
but the thing is it all dependz on the perosn to decide wat he wantz ta learn, lol, mad newbz came sometime ago startin on flares...itz wat they want, so let them do it but yea, i get wat u mean, snorky mad e ahuge move list wit movez and by it he'd put the level of the move like...1,2,3, or w/e, forgot, lol
look it up
yea, i still consider myself a newb even though i've been at it for a year now but yea, i've learned alot from the start, and yea, my first post was
"how do i get good at breakdancing"
lol, i LAUGH AT MYSELF backthen, jus tellz you that EVRYONE was a poser in the beginin, unless ur were borna bboy right when ya got outa ur mommaz belly, but i doubt that

Yeah, starting out b-boying is really hard, but everyone from the sounds of it starts off alone. A friend of mine who is a dancer is talking to her instructor about bringing in some pro's for a workshop. I bet if everyone looked around their local for that stuff, I bet they would have an easier time starting off.

Does it really matter?
Question for you all, Are there any wrist exsercises to strengthen them? I have read here and there, and the only one that seemed to help the wrists were to actually practice the move; or to do a handstand with your feet against the wall, and your hands away from it.
Any others?
Thanks

yeah me too when i started breaking i was staring at those vids and saying wow . I thought it might take me years to learn thoses moves but if you practice a lot, and start with the easier moves youll get it .
After all practice makes perfect!!!
they say practice makes perfect but man sum moves are hard!
Best combo of style: top rock, foot work, freeze, swipe, baby freeze head stand, hand stand , back bridge, back spin.

Hello all BBoy's/BGirls!
I'm a new breaker from Holland/the Netherlands. This site helped me al lot to learn some basic moves and understand the more difficult, so I decided to register. I just started to learn, but I train everyday and am improving. Because I don't know anybody else who wants to learn bboying, I train alone, mostly in my living room. I like to watch video's of battles.
The moves I am now training are swipes and hollow backs, and ofcourse footwork/style and freezes.
In the beginners guide I read this:
B-boy & Breakdancer - Most people think both mean the same thing, but they aren't. A breakdancer is someone who breaks, but doesn't know anything about the culture itself, and doesn't care about it. A b-boy is someone who breaks, but at the same time, they stay true to the culture, and have respect.
I don't know what I am, because although I don't known much about hiphop, I DO care, I have respect to others, I am not someone who just want to be cool, I am dedicated (I train a LOT), and I like the art of bboying (not just power, but also style)
Ok that was some info about me, now I have to do some work else my boss will not be so happy with me
greetz,
Da Noize

peace!
