Help a total wannabe/poser out? -
11-07-2009, 02:31 PM
So lemme tell you a story if you're reading this:
Kid, aged 16, Washington DC is a crip-walker, and does hip-hop dance. The people around him aren't too dance-intelligent, and relates crip-walking to breaking. Kid, due to peer pressure/low self-esteem gets pressured into doing a winter performance at the high school, and is asked to show off some power moves. Now you might wanna just tell me I'm retarded for bowing in/not just saying 'no', but I do actually wanna learn how to break, cause it's seemed interesting as hell. Now I have approximately a month~a month and a half, and I would like to learn as much as possible to be able to come close to maybe windmilling? Doubt I can, but tips? I've been practicing breaking about a week and the only things I've got down are really the turtle freeze, baby freeze, headstand, 6-step, cross step, and charlie rock. EDIT: Wow guys, forgot to mention I can hangglide and do coin drops ._.; sorry for the fail. I know I must sound like a total tool trying to impress people, and I am, but would it be possible for me to get any power-moves done by the beginning of December? (I'm in shape if that's a problem in any way, and I could probably dedicate approximately 30min~1 hour a day to practice). Like...what foundations should I get to build my windmill? |

Handglide is probably the only powermove that you can learn in a month, especially with such little time to practice.

I'm sorry but I couldn't help but laugh when I read this. Oh gosh, I guess this is how cwalkers become Bboys?
I don't know if you can get anything down. But you can go from foundation and put as much brute strength and flexibility you can get in a month and try for an Air Chair or power pose but other than that you're screwed hahah. |

Practice 4 hours a day or more and you could get decent. I learned crickets my first day trying them, handglide in a week, I can barely hit mills but you could get those in a week.

@TS Sorry. You're basically screwed. There's no powermoves you could possibly have down decently enough in less than a month. Crickets...MAYBE. Hangglide spin...MAYBE. But that's probably it. Windmill? Sorry but no. |

if you're fit, you could probably learn one legged swipes in a month. i'd say you should go for that becuase it doesn't have a prerequisite like handglide.
if you practiced at least 2 hours then you could probably get windmills... but they'd be ugly slow, stabbed ones, not the fast ones you're probably thinking of. |

You won't learn enough to do a whole performance, not within that time (in regards to powermoves)

You could easily learn a elbow airflare in a month
.................................................. ..............................hahahahahahaha :L. No but seriously your best bet would be a one handed hanglide and thats quite hard. You should not have got yourself ino this situation, it takes months and years to perfect and learn moves...... it is NOT somthing you can call a short term hobby if you expect to become good. |

Yeaaaa-NO. /finargument/.
P.S. Guys, I'm not a total douchebag who just wants to do bboy'ing to impress people I just got caught up in this situation, but I always wanted to learn how to do this. I plan to work on breaking til the end of college and I'm only a junior now xD. |
