I absolutely love breaking, the style is cool and with a lot of hard work you can become really good. The thing is we just started basketball and everyday I get home tired, my legs are aching, and my feet hurt. I want to break everyday for practice, are there any stretching tips, eating, drills, etc that can help me recover quicker from my practices so I can have at least an hour of breaking practice? Thanks everyone for your responses.

There's not really that much you can do to "recover faster". But your body will adapt to the training eventually and you can just put effort into Bboying after you get used to it and recover.
Also you can do it on the weekends and if your legs hurt, go for freezes. Right now I don't have my left ankle so I can't exactly top rock, so I decided to just go for freezes. |

Stretch extensivley before and after excercise that will get rid of muscles aching(thats a pain in the ass :P).Stretch minimum 30 secs per stretch and make sure you stretch everything : Ankles,wrists,legs,back,abs,neck,shoulders...Other than that what the guy above said...

that sucks.
i can only say, with your schedule, that you should make time in the morning before your basketball practice to bboy until your body becomes accustomed to your physical demands - something called hyper recovery..... as well, i heard potassium (bananas) does wonders towards quicker muscle recovery. plenty of sleep as well. keep well hydrated with water and gatorade. this is what i used to do as well, some time for bboying on the morning then i had to play tennis or softball after wards. |

you may have to prioritize. look at what makes you happier. you might have to choose in the future which goal you would rather pursue. becoming known in the bboy world would be a lot more realistic than making the nba. im not saying to choose now, or that you should, but it may be something to think about. As far as recovery goes, be sure to drink lots of water, and always eat after working out. protein rich foods supply your muscles with the proper amino acids to repair them and get you back to snuff. To be honest, doing more stretches, drills, or anything in order to make you feel less stressed out physically is probably the last thing you want to do. I would recommend after balling taking it easy, and not going as hard at breaking. the last thing you wanna do is set yourself back a month. like the above ppl said, stretching really helps, and just try to work up to an hour of hard practicing rather than trying to do both things at once, when it is already obvious that basketball is taking a toll. eat healthy, drink water, take a vitamin or eat lots of bananas i guess lol?, and be sensible and reasonable about how much physical stress you think your body can handle. you know best, so act accordingly. by the way, what position do you play?

make sure to get a lot of protein to help your muscles recover from the workouts. Also GNC or another vitamin store sell supplements that really help. Also some trainers suggest a cold shower after a work out helps.
