The interview was conducted around May 1st, 2008. I'm not sure who conducted the interview, but I'll try to get more information on that. I'll post the original in Korean, and translate to English.

1.일단 이름하고, 사는곳, 취미 등을 말씀해 주실래요?
내 이름은 신규상이고 비보이 네임은 브루스리 입니다.
사는곳은 서울 강동구이고 취미는.. 보드,비트박스,음악감상,당구 정도 되겠네요..

1. First off, please tell use your name, where you live and your hobbies.
My name is Kyu-Sang Shin, and my bboy name is Bruce Lee. I live in Seoul, Kang-Dong Ku, and my hobbies are... snowboarding, beatboxing, listening to music, and playing pool.

2. 비보이 닉네임의탄생배경을 말씀해주시죠?
갬블러가 처음으로 해외대회를 나갔을때 <2002 재팬세션> 많은 사람들이 우리를 알지못했습니다. 그렇기 때문에 우리를 불러주는 호칭조차 없었죠.. 그래서 처음배틀때 두번째배틀때 배틀이 더해갈수록 사람들은 저를 부르스리 라고 부르고 있었습니다. 일본 인중 어느한사람이 브루스리 닮았다 !! 라는 소리를해 그게 퍼져나가 .. 나중에 제가나오면 브루스리 브루스리.. 라도 외쳐주었던것이 지금의 비보이네임이 되었네요

2. Could you tell us how you came up with your bboy name?
During Gambler crew's first international competition, 2002 Japan Session, barely anybody knew us, so the crowd didn't have a name that they could call us by. After the first battle and during the heat of the second battle, I realized people were calling me Bruce Lee. One of the Japanese people had said "He looks like Bruce Lee!" and it caught on.. Afterwards, everytime I appeared on stage people were chanting Bruce Lee Bruce Lee.. and that nickname became my bboy name.

3.언제부터 비보잉을 시작하게 되셨나요?
1997 년정도에 시작한것 같군요.

3. When did you start bboying?
At the beginning of 1997, I believe.

4.현재 팀에 소속중이신데, 이 팀에 대해 간단히 설명을 부탁드리면...?
저희팀은 정말 가족같은 팀입니다. 실력을 떠나 모두들 친형처럼 친동생처럼 서로를 아낍니다. 서로를 존중하고 존경합니다. 배울점도 많은사람들이죠.. 처음에는 갬블러라는 네임벨류를 보고 팀원들의 실력을보고 시작을 했지만 지금은 저희 삶의 가장중요한 일부분 입니다. 제 인생에 이친구들을 만난건 큰 행운 입니다.

4.Could you please give us a brief introduction of your crew?
is like a family. Apart from each member's talent, we really look out for one another like brothers. We also respect and look up to each other. There is something to learn from each and every member. When Gamblerz crew was created, we put an emphasis on the crew's name value and the members' skills, but now it has become the most important presence in my life. I consider myself very fortunate to have met these friends.

**Gamblerz crew was initially formed with the concept of an unofficial Korean all-star crew.

5.현재 팀 이외에 친하게 지내시는 비보이가 있다면?
친하게 지내는 비보이는 많습니다. 일단 84년생들로 이루어진 84크루, 그리고 리버스 라스트포원 진조 T.I.P 드리프터스 .. 그리고 수많은 팀들 아무래도 한국 비보이씬 이 조금작아 모두들 알게되고 거의대부분 친하게 지내는것 같습니다.

5. Do you have any bboys that you are close to outside of gamblerz crew?
I have alot of bboy friends. First, there's the 84 crew, which consists of bboys born in the year 1984. Then there's bboys from rivers, last4one, Jinjo, T.I.P. and drifterz.. and alot of other teams. Due to the small size of the Korean bboying scene, you get to know everybody and most of them get along pretty well.

6.추구하는 비보이 스탈이있다면 어떤것인지 설명좀^^?
저는 파워무브를 위주로 하고있습니다. 하지만 가장 중요하게 생각하는것은 음악위에.. 입니다. 내가 파워무브를 하던지 풋웍 , 프리즈를 하던지 나의 모든춤은 음악위에 있어야 합니다. 그리고 그러려고 많은 노력을 하고있습니다. 단순히 탑락 업락 풋웍만 춤이 아닙니다. 음악위에하는 모든 동작은 춤입니다 !! 그렇기에 저희 파워무브 , 프리즈도 춤 입니다. 일부 파워무브를 안좋게 보는 친구들이 있지만 저는 파워무브도 음악과 함께라면 춤이라고 생각합니다. 그러나 파운데이션을 배제 하는것은아니고 제가 춤을 시작하게된 계기도 파워무브 였고 정말 오랫동안 파워무브에 얽매여 있었습니다. 그리고 너무나도 빠져 있어서 비보잉의 큰것을 보지 못했던것 같습니다. 비보이 스타일을<파워무브위주스타일,프리즈 스타일,올드스쿨스타일 등등> 찾는것이아니고 나만의 스타일<케릭터>을 찾는것이 가장 큰 숙제라고 생각합니다.

6. Do you have a certain style in bboying that you prefer or aim towards?
I am a powermover. However, the most important element is dancing to the music. Whether I'm doing powermoves, footwork or freezes, you have to dance to the music, and I am trying to do so. Bboying isnt simply toprock, uprock and footwork. As long as you dance to the music, every move you make is part of bboying! For that reason, I consider powermoves and freezes as bboying. There are some people who look down upon powermovers, but as long as it is performed to fit the music, I believe it is bboying. However, I am not putting down foundation. I started off with powermoves, and was trapped inside its world for a really long time. Perhaps I missed the essence of bboying due to this. I believe that instead of defining yourself as, or assimilating to a certain style, such as a powerhead, freeze or stylehead, or oldschool bboy, finding your own style and character is the most important task to a bboy.

7.비보이 하면서 가장 생각하는 대회가 어떤게 잇을까요?
프리스타일 세션 10주년 입니다. 가장 저에게 많은것을 안겨주었고 느끼게 해주었고 배우게 해주었던 대회였습니다. 어릴적 제가 춤을 시작했을 당시만해도 인터넷이 지금처럼 활발하지 못했습니다. 그렇기에 인터넷으로 비보잉 자료를 본다는것은 정말 어려웠죠.. 선배를 통해 아는 팀을 통해 어렵게 구한 비디오 테이프가 하나 있었습니다. 프리스타일 세션 VOL.2 VOL.3 등등 입니다. 그영상은 저에겐 정말 충격적이였고 많은것을 얻었고 꼭한번 저대회에 서보고 싶었습니다. 8년 이지나 프리스타일 세션 10주년 결승전에 서있는 내모습을 보고 다시한번 과거를 돌아볼수있는 좋은 계기였고 2위를 함으로써 많은것을 느끼게 해주었습니다.

7.What bboy competition have you thought the most about?
Freestyle session 10th anniversary. It has given me the most, has made me feel the most, and has also taught me the most. When I first started learning, the internet wasn't as well developed as it is today. So it was really rare to find stuff related to bboying on the internet. One day, I got hold of this tape from a friend who knew a bboying crew, and it had footage from competitions such as freestyle session vol.2, vol.3, etc. The footage in that video was the inspiration I needed: not only did I learn alot from it, but I also thought that one day, I would stand on that very stage of Freestyle session. 8 years later, preparing for the final battle at freestyle session 10th anniversary, I got a chance to reminisce to where it all began, and coming in second taught me alot.

**He is referring to the controversial final battle between MZK and gamblerz. The last sentence could either mean 'I learned alot' or 'I felt alot of different emotions.' Normally, I would interpret it as the first defitinition, but since it was a battle that left much more to be wished from gamblerz and many others, I leave it up to the readers to choose how to interpret it.

8.비보이음악중에 가장 좋아라 하는 음악이 있으시다면?
저는 기계음보다는 베이스음이 좋습니다. Gold rush,The Age of Aquarius 등 그 이외에 너무도 많습니다.

8.Whats your favorite bboying music?
I am more into bass-music than synthetic music. I love songs such as Gold rush, The Age of Aquarius and many more.

9.가장 존경하는 비보이는 누구인가요?
딱히 한명..을 정할수가 없네요 정말 열심히하는 비보이들 자기 생활의 모든것을 버리고 연습에 전념하는 비보이들 모두 존경합니다.

9.Which bboy do you look up to the most?
I can't necessarily pick one. I respect all those that give their all and concentrate on practice.

10.비보이 생활을 하면서 가장 어려운 점은 무엇인가요?
다들 마찬가지겠지만 부상이겠죠.. 부상으로 인해 나의 기량을 100퍼센트 발휘할수 없고 배틀대회까지 앞둔상황이라면 정말 힘듭니다.

10.Whats the hardest part of bboying?
Just like any other bboy would say, injuries. When you can't practice at your full potential, especially when there's a big upcoming battle, it's really frustrating.

11.스스로에게 스승이라고 할수잇는 분이 있따면?
The end 입니다 가치연습을 하는것만으로도 많은 자극을 받게되고 많은 공부가 됩니다. Bboy SO 가 저의 부족한 부분을 많이 가르쳐 주고있습니다.

11.If there's somebody you could call your mentor, who would it be?
I woud say The End. Just by practicing with him, I push myself harder and learn alot. Bboy So is also helping me practice what I lack.

**Quick insert: I knew it! Ever since Bruce Lee started concentrating on foundation, I saw alot of bboy So in him. I don't think bboy So's mentoring is limited to just Bruce Lee, as I see some of his flavor also from bboy The End and bboy Rush.

12.언제 비보이가 되겠다고 생각했나요?
아..내가 프로의 길을 걸어야겠다라고 마음을 먹은적은 없습니다. 앞만 보고 달렸다고 해야할까요 ~? 연습하는게 재미있고 대회나가는것이 재미있어서 계속해서 해왔더니 지금의 저의 모습까지 왔습니다. 앞으로 계속 달려야겠죠.!

12.When did you decide to become a bboy?
I never really decided to become professional. Should I say that it just happened naturally as I kept on bboying? I love practicing and entering competitions, so I kept at it, and now this is where I'm at. And I plan to continue on!

13. 연습을 하고 있지 않을 경우에는 주로 무얼 하나요?
여자친구를 만난다거나 팀원들끼리 당구를 친다거나 인터넷을 한다거나 .. 연습실이 조금멀어져서 버스로 1시간 30분거리기때문에 버스에 앉아있는시간도 많네요

13.When you're not practicing, what do you do?
I spend time with my girlfriend, play pool with my teammates or go online.. The practice room is a little far, about an hour and a half by bus, so I spend alot of time just sitting on the bus too.

14. 여자이상형은?
지금 사귀고있는 여자친구 입니다. 저를 너무 이해해주고 아껴줍니다.

14.What do you look for in women?
My current girlfriend has everything I look for. She is so understanding and treats me very well.

15.자주 가시는 의류매장이나 인터넷 쇼핑몰을 소개해주신다면?
옷은 주로 외국에서 삽니다 H&M 이라는 브랜드가 있는데 저가이면서 아주 좋은 디자인의 옷들이 많습니다 !! 조만간 저희팀원들과 친구들과 함께 인터넷샵을 열려고 합니다.. 그때많이 찾아주세요 ^^

15.Where do you buy your clothes?
I buy them abroad. THere's a place called H&M and even though it's cheap there are alot of cool looking clothes!! My teammates and I are looking forward to opening a clothing store on the internet.. I hope you all come by ^^

16. 비보이를 시작하시는 어린친구들에게..한마디 하신다면?

18.현재 한국비보잉에 대한 자신의 생각?
최근에 열린 R-16이라는 팀배틀대회에 50 가까이 되는 한국팀이 참가를 한것을 보고 정말 놀랬습니다. 한국비보이들이 정말 많고 많이 발전하고있구나.. 예선전을 보면서 계속 감탄을했습니다. 너무나 잘하고 좋은방향으로 흘러나가고 있는것 같습니다. 하지만 서울로 대회나 팀들이 집중되는것은 안타깝네요. 우리나라의 현실이 그렇지만 부산 ,울산,대구 등등 여러 지역에서 활발한 활동과 지역 싸움^^;;;도 있으면 한국 비보잉 씬이 더욱 커질것같네요.

18.What do you think of the Korean bboying scene?
At the most recent R-16, I was really surprised when almost 50 Korean teams entered. I thought to myself, 'there are alot of Korean bboys and it's really going somewhere.' I couldn't believe my eyes during the prelimenaries. Everybody was so good and I really think it's going towards a good direction. However, the one thing that disappoints me is that the focus of the bboying scene is at Seoul. Even thought that's how it is right now, if there were some more action in areas such as Pusan, Ulsan and Daegu, the Korean bboying scene would further expand.

19.연습 방법을 궁금하게 생각하는 사람들이 많은데 소개좀해주세요.
특별한 연습방법은 없습니다. 늘고 싶고 잘하고싶은 의지만 있으면 연습을 열심히 하게되고 또 잘할수있습니다. 그의지를 놓지마세요.

19.Alot of people are curious about your training methods. Could you tell us about them?
I don't have a special method of training. If you really wanted to improve and get better, you would naturally practice harder and become better. Don't let that driving force inside you dissipate.

Dope interview. Bruce Lee came to Singapore to judge BOTY Singapore like a month ago and he seems scary and all. Like some gangsta on a mission. The crowd went wild during his set in the judges showcase.
