Taking it back to the cardboards -

I read an article on Breakdance wikipedia that had some flosses. NOt sure if it made it to their forum, so i wanted somewhere to post it, because what i wrote brought back great memories growing up in the bronx, on 181 St and Morris AVe. The 3rd....lol
Just wanted to add, b-boy originated from the term "my breaking boy or bronx boy" in other words my breaking partner and bronx boy well thats my boy. And if i remember i can be wrong, the biggest rivalry was between rock steady and nyc breakers as shown on Beat Street. I for those that don't know NYC breaker performed for President Ronald Reagan, if i remember correctly was for his inaguration (may have spelled it wrong).
Also battle were held just about anywhere at the time. You could be outside your building or in the local school yard and have a battle. You always had someone in your neighborhood or your rival neighborhood thinking they were better. Even in the after school center at the local gym. The best battles happened from what i remember were held at "jams" in the neighborhood. More notably knows as block parties. The "jams" were held at your local school yards. Where you had M.C., DJs. electric boogy and breakdancing battles. Two turn-tables, big as speakers and the longest extension cord you can find plugged into a light post.
The best breaking song you forgot to mention in this article was the song "just begun" don't know who the artist is but up to this day i here it and it brings back the memories and this is the best song to uprock to.
Left out the Lee suits (burgandy)that were very popular in the 80s especially with breakdancers. With drawings in the back of the jacket like the drawing on the first page of your article, with your breaking or tag name in the back. You also had it drawn on the side of either leg on your Lee jeans..lol
Felt great going down memory lane..And don't forget the letter "B" is a word. Forget that "B"...lol
