he is not that good of a rapper to be compared to lil wayne kayne and jay z. i think they are way better than him. If lil wayne and them battle him in a freestyle it think they would murder his ass. but he does got some good songs out but he isnt all that

i was at a lupe fiasco concert last night and funny enough, he had a few words concerning soulja boy. the kid's hip-hop, period. prolly not up to par with "real" hip-hop heads' standards, but hip-hop regardless. only difference is how he puts it out there and the audience that he appeals to. u don't have to like him, but u can't fault him for his moves either. he's makin money his OWN way. simply put, i agree with lupe.. and to a certain extent, soulja boy. he IS hot RIGHT NOW. if he should go-off sayin he's better than most lyrically, THEN i'd throw a fit.

peace and respect.

If you are basing off the emcee's Style and Topic you are able to diffrentiate between the Emcee's skill and consistancy. Im an emcee/poet....It doesnt matter if you have a bad night or a good night. If you had a bad night, why the fuck would you record a freestyle...why the fuck would you show up on stage....But there is truth to what you are saying. But im pretty sure in both the vids, both emcees were giving it there all...

I just lost so much respect for you.

Is Soulja Boy's shit even a rap? Does rhyming two lines make you an Emcee or even a rapper?

To be perfectly honest he's appealing to an audience with his music but his shit gets played EVERYWHERE in every fucking club and i can't escape it. There's no clubs that don't play the same shit as Soulja Boy. Bboys and poppers can't even battle properly anymore because this shit is constantly playing in the club.

It's so easy to cater to the lowest common denominator in music. Soulja is doing exactly that and then has the gall to compare himself to some of the very few emcees putting out good shit for us to get down to.

He might be hip hop but he's still a little bitch lolly pop rapper, no different to Vanilla Ice or Emcee Hammer.

Shit man, when did we stop expecting more out of radio artists? When did we start conceding that record sales makes someone worthy of note, even though they're pushing whack shit?

Peace

^^ Just peeped that vid that KB posted. Hard to say if that IT freestyle was an actual freestyle, but least it had an actual verse to compare with Wayne's. Honestly, I can't understand why people treat Wayne like he is so ill, his shit is so boring to me, punches are generic too. MOST of the mainstream rappers write their so called freestyles anyway, so with that you can't say he had a bad night.

Eitherway, I could post up a bunch of videos/songs of better freestylers than Wayne. But really, what's the point? If you like him, someone else's views aren't going to change yours. Listen to what you want to listen to, if you like it then who cares.

You have nothing interesting to say so you write about yourself

your totally missing my point and making a different argument homie...

I seriously dobut Wayne was trying to go hard on that feestyle considering he has better ones on the same album, the throw some D's freestyle was knockin... dat zoom freestyle.... not so much

"peyton manning flo, I just go no huddle"
"you can't guard me, 2 niggas can't guard me, you looking at Jordan".

KNOCKIN!!!

but it depends on what you like hearing, wayne isn't the best period of course, nobody is, but as far as mainstream shit he one of the top IMO...

Damn.. I sorta agree with Desi on that. I mean.. come on, really ? He's that dope? Or even dope at all?

and lil wayne.. is overrated imo. I don't know, his freestyles aren't all that dope and his punchlines are generic, yet people go crazy over them as if they were some crazy dope metaphor/similie.

Mk imma try and re-interpret what you said seeing as i apparently missed the point?

Souljah might be hip hop but he's the dregs at the bottom of the barrels. I can fault him for his moves because even though he's makin his money, he's done so by doing something that every other candy ass bubble gum faggot rapper does, get a shitload of bass, some flashy (but boring) producer to jazz his shit up and then mumbled over the track to make it look like he doesn't care.

He can't rap. He really can't. His ego is out of control and he has no credentials to back the bullshit he's spewing. In case you didn't read right he said he's better than kanye, Jay and Weezy and if he ain't talkin about lyrics (which he prob is even though he might back off if pushed) then he's talkin about popularity. Popularity counts for fuck all.

Hammer and Vanilla Ice were blowing up huge back in the day but they get no love now, so why should his ringtone raps matter any more now than they will in 2 years?

I don't care if he's hot. I'm sorry but the amount of bullshit that's getting playtime on our radios is indicative enough of the fact that it's not about musical talent in the industry today. It's about who you know and the production behind it.

He's not makin money his OWN way, he's doing the same shit as every other sellout punk. It might have started off as an indie release but he couldn't wait to cash in and sell out.

Remember that.

Peace
