KOOL G RAP DROPS NEW ALBUM, THIS YEAR!
Latchkey Recordings and Chinga Chang Records have teamed up to release the highly anticipated new album Half A Klip by legendary MC Kool G Rap. Half A Klip features all new G Rap material and includes production from legends DJ Premier, Marley Marl and Domingo (co-executive producer). Look for the DJ Premier produced single to drop in August.
Kool G Rap rose to fame in the 80’s as part of the Juice Crew and is known for lacing classic tracks like “The Symphony,” "Streets of New York," "Poison," and "Road to the Riches.” G Rap was one of the first MCs to hit listeners with vivid tales of gritty street life and influenced a generation of artists.

LIVE EARTH CONCERT CANCELLED!
The Live Earth concert in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has been cancelled by a judge after police said they did not have enough personnel to ensure concert goers' safety. The crowd could have reached 700,000, too many for the available police officers.
The concerts, promoted by Al Gore, are aiming to bring global awareness to the problems facing our climate, much as Bob Geldof's "Live Aid" did for famine in Africa in the 80s.
Concerts will go ahead in London, Tokyo, Johannesburg, Shanghai, Sydney, Hamburg and East Rutherford, New Jersey. Scientists will also perform from Antarctica. Organisers of the Brazil show are trying to get the judge's order overturned.

TIMBALAND QUITTING MUSIC!
Timbaland has reportedly said that he is ready to quit the music industry and name a successor.
The superproducer, who has masterminded hits by Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado and released a solo album earlier this year, said in a recent interview that he is "about to throw in the towel" because he is bored with the current state of affairs in the music industry.
"Music is boring right now. I'm too innovative for the world," he told Gigwise.
"I've been doing it so long, I'm about to throw in the towel. I'm about to de-crown myself and pass it over to one of the up-and-coming producers under me. They won't be able to be me--there's only one Timbaland--but there's a certain sound that I try to teach."

LL COOL J VS. JAY Z ...beef is over?
Based on his lyrics from a leaked song entitled "Queenz," the 20-year marriage between LL Cool J and Def Jam Records will end with an ugly divorce. While Uncle L professes his love for the original Def Jam founders, he also voices his displeasure with the current power structure.
"I Wish Rick and Russell was back I miss the old Def Jam/cause them new monkeys act like they don't know who I am," are among the barbs found on the first track from LL's upcoming album Exit 13.
While some feel the verse added fuel to the rumors that he is feuding with his label mate and Def Jam President Jay-Z, the self-proclaimed "Greatest of All Time" stated otherwise.
"I was never angry at Jay-Z," LL told the New York Daily News. "My issues were with the company, the way they pushed younger artists to the wayside. They deserve to be heard. As a New Yorker, I would love to hear more local artists. This is America. Artists should have a platform."
Exit 13 is scheduled to be released during the fourth quarter of 2008, with 50 Cent rumored to be handling executive production duties.

SNOOP DOGG APPLYING FOR AUSTRALIAN CITIZENSHIP!
After being denied in April, MTV is making a second attempt to bring Snoop Dogg to Australia.
They also have Australia's immigration officials intrigued, after calling on MTV viewers to support an appeal to get citizenship for Snoop, who is the convicted felon (the reason he was denied in the first place).
In a press release, Snoop said that fans should "journey with me as I become a citizen of the land Down Under."
In April, the rapper was scheduled in Australia to attend the MTV Australian Video Music Awards, which he was scheduled to co-host, but Minister Kevin Andrews would not grant Snoop (real name: Calvin Broadus) a visa to enter the country (see "Snoop Dogg Denied Entry Into Australia"), after recent drug and gun offenses the rapper faced in the U.S. and abroad.
"The reality is in relation to this man, that he was given a warning the last time," Mr. Andrews told Australian radio in April. "He has been denied entry into the United Kingdom because he was caught with others causing affray at Heathrow Airport. He doesn't seem the sort of bloke we want in this country."

GHOSTFACE TALKS ABOUT '8 DIAGRAMS' (NEW WU-TANG ALBUM)!
In a recent interview on Funkmaster Flex's Hot 97 radio show, Ghostface Killah briefly discussed his Wu-Tang brethren and their the upcoming album, 8 Diagrams.
''We were in the studio last night, we laid it down," Ghostface divulged. "We about to go to Europe next week for three weeks and then come back to do Rock The Bells with Rage Against The Machine, Public Enemy and Nas. It feels good to be around my brothers again and just try to put that work in." [Watch Video Here]
During the Q&A, the self proclaimed "Wally Champ" also revealed that he will release a solo album after the group's project drops.
"I stay working though, I got my other pizza pie, it's almost finished," he said referring to his forthcoming solo album. "I like to keep dropping them. It might be the Clan joint first and then I'll just go ahead and put my joint out. Ain't any time to waste, I don't want to speak too much on it but its heavy though."
As SOHH previously reported, Wu-Tang Clan signed with Rifkind's SRC Records this past December. The group, who gained prominence in the early 90's via Rifkind's now-defunct Loud Records, have not released a group album since 2001's Iron Flag.
During their six-year hiatus, all nine members of the group have released solo albums. The group's most eccentric member, ODB (born Russell Tyrone Jones), died in 2004 from an accidental drug overdose while recording his third solo project.
A release date for 8 Diagrams has yet to be determined.

THE GREATEST VIDEO GAME EVER IS...
The readers of Edge magazine, as well as computer game industry experts, have stated that "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" is the greatest video game of all time. Created a decade ago, the Nintendo 64 game is a pioneer of 3D gaming.
The Edge magazine poll listed the best 100 games, and half the top ten was made up of Nintendo games. Edge editor Tony Mott said: "Ocarina of Time is nearly 10 years old, but its position at the top slot... shows that great game design does not age."
Apart from Zelda, the top five was made up of Resident Evil 4, Super Mario 64, Half Life 2 and Super Mario World in the second, third, fourth and fifth spots respectively.

MOM DRIVES KID TO A DRIVE-BY SHOOTING!
PALMDALE, Calif. (AP) - A mother faces firearms charges after she allegedly drove her son's friends to a rival gang member's house to take part in a shooting, authorities said.
Michelle Wright, 37, pleaded not guilty Thursday to three counts of assault with a firearm and one count of shooting a firearm at a dwelling, said Los Angeles County sheriff's Detective Robert Gillis on Friday. She was held on $250,000 bail.
Wright drove her son's two friends to a rival gang member's house in Palmdale early Tuesday, authorities said. One of the son's friends got out and fired at a bedroom window before the three drove away.
Two small children and a teen were in the room, but no one was injured.
Detectives acting on a tip arrested the woman's son and the gunman, Gillis said. Authorities recovered a shotgun they suspect was used in the shooting, he said.
Wright told authorities she drove her son's friends to do the shooting because she believed police were not doing enough to stop gang members from harassing her children, Gillis said.
Wright's son and the two other teens, whom authorities have accused of being members of a street gang, were charged and held in juvenile custody.
An attorney representing Wright could not be located, and her phone number was unlisted.
Palmdale is located in northern Los Angeles County.
