I posted this here on BBoy.org back on 8-11-2005, and well....this is definitely the spot it should have originated in...enjoy!!
A b-girl at the Fresh Fest...da '80s ..
I represented as a very young b-girl at a couple of the Fresh Fest concerts in the '80s. I still have a t-shirt, ticket stub, autographed promos, and best of all a back stage pass a member of the group Newcleus gave me that he said I had to battle a b-boy for and I did. A winning headspin back then earned me the opportunity to meet RunDMC, the FatBoys, Newcleus, Whodini, LL Cool J, the Dynamic Rockers, and others, but most importantly some of the dopest memories this b-girl will always remember. Some people who know me have seen the stuff organized in one of my hip hop memory books I take to b-boy events. It was all about b-girlin' for me since 1979 and supporting hip hop any time I could growing up, being the only b-girl in two cities for many years was never easy, guys never asked to be in a crew and I rolled solo even to these shows at 14 years old, but I never let that discourage me, I just wanted to get busy in a cypher and dance. So fellas, the females have been around for a minute. Anyway, I hope you all will always support and appreciate the old school!!....Peace.

OOOohhh wee, I keep up with this site, but haven't posted in years and straight up, I didn't mean to rekindle some beef. Anyway, this is the show I'm talkin about, I went to 2 shows in 2 different cities in the 80's, MTV wrote a story about it in 2005 when I posted...

http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/150...ick_rick.jhtml

I'll have to go in to my "vault" and dig some jewels out...lol.

Mikeyice, thanks for your work on the site, it's one I always come back to.

Pex, I was definately a fan of you and NYCB. One of my B-Girl names in the day was Pink Ice....(Icey Ice was one of my favorite b-boys and I always sported pink). I also have an original KTel Poster in my vault too. I went to a RSC Ann. years ago, and was hoping to meet some of you to get it signed, think London and another new member signed, actually Frosty signed it cause he was standing there with them and even though he was RSC.... No matter how cheesy the products were then, the difficulty of finding any hip-hop related where I lived...makes me still consider it quite a cherished possession. Peace.
