COLLEGE!!!!
are you crazy girl... I used to dance almost every day when I was at college. I'm sorry, but being at college is no excuse. I was just chatting to my boy Bless Roc in NY (we sued to be in a crew called Break Mechanix together). this guy was doing his intern, and now he is completing his masters in economics and he finds time to practice, so I think that being at college and being a girl and silly excuses like that are plain JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH!
what about the Koreans? they eat greasy food all the time- look where that got them... those guys are freakin machines! I understand your home sick, but that is what breakin is for... putting your emotion out on the floor. soul expressions!
sorry to rattle you like this kwiet storm315, but we have all had hardships and times when it seemed like too much effort to break- but every bboy/bgirl makes the decision right there at that point if they are serious about what they do or if it's just another ways and means to try be cool.
just my opinion... sorry if I offend

it's just a matter of prioritizing... and you have to choose what wins and what loses...
i work full time and take classes, picked up doing freelance work a bit once again also, am getting into some music/art stuff with a friend in terms of shows etc... but yeah... i cut out time i PROLLY shouldn't cut out for breaking. and to keep it organized, i'll leave it at that, since there is a thread for such.

I just think there is often no excuse to not practice.
when we are training for comps, we prac 4 times a week (we = UFO), when we just on normal time, at least once a week. 2 times a week is our normal.
so yeah, Fae, good to hear... Keep it up.

^ [[My post]]
Ppl are saying there's no excuse to not practice, but that's everyone's opinion. I think that I have to proritize my shit, and if I don't have time alone to do HW then I don't have time for practice. I can't say anyting else, except that my Momz would bugg the fuck out if she knew I was dancing instead of getting work done. That's just how I look at it.
I wish I could practice more, I wish I could practice period. But if I don't make it to the Y, it's not going to make or break me. If I was a hardcore bgirl, if I went to jams, if I was with a crew and battled, all that then I would really be all depressed about it. But I aint, because I am not battling right now, and I am still good. I work on my skills in my room, freezes and such. But as far as footwork...I cant do it. I am not saying that I completly don't practice but I don't go to the Y put on music and session....that's what I was saying.

I guarantee if anyone took up running in this whole forum, 9/10 times we would get bored with those sort of training regimes...
running...
where u gonna run 2 buddy?

dummy -_- running is cardiovascular exercise. cardiovascular burns fat off your WHOLE BODY, and in order to make the abs visible, the layers of fat above your abdominal muscles have to be burned off. you could have an 8 pack and not even know it if there is fat covering the muscle
that shouldnt be important though, im pretty sure she doesn't want abs .. a 4 pack looks good on girls imo :O

there's no reason why girls can't have a six pack...it's never gonna be mad ripped unless u go at it all the time but it'll show....
the question is do you really want to be a chick with a six pack? that's pretty gross imo....jst firm at the most plz
my friend is an ex-gymnast and she can still flex and make it show

Squid boy... Running will not get you results half as fast as targeting the area...
as you said - you would have to burn the fat on the area, and with running it would take forever and many kilometers. running is a silly way to go about getting a 6pac, besides, breaking probably more cardio than running.
you try running and getting a 6pac!
look, it may be a good supplement for building stamina and controlled breathing during excercise, but to me just running is boring...
F^%$ running dude!

running is something you tend to do for longer periods of time than breaking... as in straight activity. (for most people anyway), so yeah. Breaking's good to bring you up to target heart rate esp for people who are very in shape, i'm thinking, so that's a plus there.
working out an area is to the build the muscle definition/tone/chisel it etc... but yeah some people have a six pack under a layer of fat so you'll never see it. Muscle-building exercises will define areas more, but yes, overall fat must be lost in order to let the stuff show... and you can't target that. it's based on how and where your body gains and loses fat.
but yeah, some people love running, others hate it. i kinda tend to fall on the latter end, but it doesn't nullify it's benefits.

Keep in mind that walking (especially powerwalking) burns more fat than running.
The primary gain of running is lung capacity and strengthening your heart and circulation.
Targeted aerobic exercise will remove fat in the targeted area this is pretty well known.
But why would you waste time with targeted exercises when you could just use bboying to target the same area and improve at the same time :P
so many ab using movements in bboying (particularly noticeable in moves such as: 2step, swipes, CCs, mills, 'hooking' (as Storm calls it), the basic reverse drop, ect).
I'm just another noob trying to learn the ropes.
I think I'm possibly the slowest learner on all of bboy.org haha.
