Besides some obvious reasons why do you think in the community of bboying that the bboys get more attention than the bgirls? Bgirls are prettier and smell better.... I belive a conspiracy is at hand

Because (at least for me) I see a lot more bboys than bgirls. I think I've seen 1 in personand she was with like 10 other bboys. Basically not enough bgirls

Nowadays this is becoming less true, though. Bgirls are excelling in power, an aspect of bboying once thought of as strictly male bboy territory. But, now bgirls hitting multiple windmills, headspins, and flares isn't that uncommon, & when there is a bgirl doing that same kinda stuff, I think they get much more attention than if a bboy did it. Male bboy hitting 10 consecutive headspins with no taps, blah, seen it before, just power. But if a female hits that same level of power...like woah, they get a crapload of attention. That's just the I see it, IMHO. But then again, like I said, times are continually changing, and who knows what the future of bboying holds for us all.

I met a bgirl once, she was really small and she only knew how to toprock and do a six step, I battled her at a party, and I screwed up on my Gainer type move because my feet hit the floor when I tried landing on my hands. But I still won.

Bgirls are awesome to see, nothing better than seeing a girl who can dance well. The reason there's less of them is that girls receive little encouragement to dance or be in sports from their peers and parents (not all the time but often) from an early age, but like others have said, this is changing now and it's good to see.

Peace

I love bgirls and I'm glad they're making progress. But, it sucks because I there aren't any in my area

But, yeah, like the other guys said. They get a lot of attention when they manage to do moves that are common among the bboys--flares, headspins, etc.

i agree with him about girls not getting much encouragement...i ve been there..my bro and his friends always discouraged me about learning to break...but i pushed all the things they said aside and learned anyways...who cares what they say or think...i ll do whatever i want and they have no part of it.

I had a really ugly girlfriend once and she use to always say "I want to learn to breakdance" I was like, I'll teach you but it won't be much fun for the first year or so, so she never started. She ended up moving to France to become a fashion designer.

I dont think its even like that.... Like everyone n our 'hood wants to see a BGirl when they see me or Tasha break they go bizurk, even if its just top rock or somethin simple... So its no conspiracy... its just about BGirls steppin up... nothing more.

I think more will start to try it out after seeing that episode of MADE when that girl became a Bgirl. I can see the point about discouraging people could be a reason why theres less. I remember when I first started martial arts it was kinda like that. But then when the girls started winning all the events and my friend started her win streak that all changed. A year later there was somewhere around 60 more girls in the area competing in events.

I still think there is a soceity of bboys whose purpose is to keep bgirls out but I don't have enough intel on it now. All I know is that bboy jz is most likely a ring leader in the organization.

because people believe girls want to be bgirls just to look cute OR, they don't do as much as a bboy would.. (which i think is wrong), same with WNBA....

me,...i'd pay attention to a bgirl than a bboy AnY day..... i have my reasons

I took MMA for a few years, and I had the perfect body type for it. I was built and cut up (thin muscular build), and very flexible, so I was ideal for grappling, not so ideal for striking. Any of the guys, I could take like nothing (except for the senior students). However, the girls who had the same level of experience with me are just sickeningly quick, the way they pop me into a triangle like it's nobody's business, and once they got those legs wrapped around me, I'm f#$ked. And flexibility, well, I ain't had nuttin' on their splits. They had front splits, side splits, straight armed/legged bridges, you name it, they had it (I'm guessing they also took Yoga). Uhhhh, yeah, MMA is a good martial art for girls to get into, I learned that the hard way hahah

To me, part of it is just who defines the art form most. We can all list dozens of dope bboys who inspire us and make serious contributions to the art form, but (at least personally) I know far less B-Girls that really inspire me and do things I've never seen before. Not a crack against girls, just the current situation. BGirl Tania, ABGirl, Jessefecks, Loki, Trinity, Defy and a few more. They are all good and I respect all of them alot, there are way more dope bboys out there and the girls hit less battles than guys so not as many people know about them as say, Crumbs or Moy. This might just be because there are less bgirls to battle, and the prizes for bgirls as usually less, but it will stay this way until our community gets a core group of really dope bgirls that inspire other women to hit the floor and make their own contributions.

The outdated gender roles of the world are better than back in the 50's but alot of guys are stillintimated by women that are better at them than things, whether it be sports, school or whatever. That doesn't seem like a problem for you Kunoichi, but I wonder if some girls don't hold themselves back because they're self concious about intimidating guys or because they perceive it as undesirable to act hard or aggressive? I don't think that happens alot, but I think it probably does happen some. - GRIZ
