its probably easier to join a crew... - 08-20-2004, 05:10 PM

if you are a newbie so other experienced members can help you learn new moves etc. but if you really want to start one, find other bboys in your area that can battle but aren't in a crew and hook up with them and recruit some other members.

a crew of learners won't win any battles i don't think, but you could always just practice together until you are good enough to battle

dont push me cuz i'm close to the edge, i'm tryin not to lose my head

Bgirl_newb ... basically , there's no secret technique or hidden knowledge for starting a crew ( well , as far as i know ... ) . it's exactly what you have in your mind - you gather a bunch of dudes ( or even better , a bunch of dudes who are into bboying .. ), and WOW , you have a crew - just make sure they know it and that it's official . you may not be pros , or win any battle soon , but you really don't have too . in my opinion , being a crew is not only for battles and such - it's about practicing together , helping and motivating each other to improve and having fun .

Yeah, there's really no secret to starting a crew. It's basically getting a few people together who want to be in it and naming yourselves.

I've been in a few crews -

Phunky Childs
Upcydedown
Basic Four

For the most part they were just started because some friends wanted to make a smaller crew to mess around with.

Keep in mind...the crew's also about love. If a crew member's gonna crap out on you to join some other more experienced crew...hell with 'em. A crew is about loyalty. Choose wisely. I prefer starting one with friends to joining one that's pre-existing...though I've yet to do either.

Peace.

Check out my first audio freestyle, and second audio.... Drop some feed, I'm still learnin'!
