ach , this should go to the moves forum .

off topic for a moment - it's funny , on the session , or on the net , there always those kids saying to me " oh , i wish i was able to break , but i'm not strong / flexible enough " . fuck , they're just aren't serious enough , that's they're problem . they give up from the begining - such a weak personallity .

anyway , i can't understand those who come by and ask how to aquire strength . where strength come from ? it's come from practice , a 5 years old kid can tell you that ! same for flexabilty .
now if you asked for training routines , i wouldn't mind . that make sense , i'd ask for those too . but you're asking for ways to get arm strength .......

sounds good to me

i disagree, you dont dance or play sports to get in shape, you get in shape so that you can dance or play sports. you ever notice those middle aged folks that play softball on weekends as their excersize are all fat? there is a reason for that, same with dancing. if she doesnt have the strength to do a move she is just going to hurt herself

Pushups like this...

Put your hands directly under your shoulders, elbows held as close to your ribs as you can, and do pushups from that position.

Don't go all the way to the floor, stop just before you touch down.

This kind of pushup works your triceps a lot more than regular ones do but be warned - they are a lot harder to do. You might need someone to hold your elbows in for you at first.

Braunau - Those people are fat for a number of reasons. One of them being a seditary lifestyle where softball (essentially standing around and maybe runng once every hour) is a token gesture to fitness.
Shit there are PRO baseball players who have a gut that'd be better placed on a darts player at the Embassy!

Dancing on the other hand is a full body physical and cardiovascular workout. You don't need to get fit to dance. The dance itself gets you fit.
That's like saying people need to get fit before they go to an aerobics class.

As for the strength needed, as you train moves, your body grows and becomes strong in the ways it needs to do the moves you are doing.
I ever go to the gym or do weights, My stomach is fat-free and my triceps and shoulders get bigger every week.

Also - you use weight machines. Not the best of ideas when you actually need to use the strength you build. Machines basically train you to be good at using machines. Since they lock you into moving weight along one precise plane of movement, if you change that movement, (as you do in a dance like bboying) your strength becomes much less effective.

Machines have many problems, also streching to the well known problems that can be caused by working muscle groups in isolation.

For bboying, you don't just need strong muscles - you need all the supporting muscle groups to be worked aswell, if youre going to use weights, then freeweights are by far the best answer. (Once you know how to use them)

But anything where you are building up muscles you don't use while bboying, is simply making life harder for you, and in all honesty, is purely cosmetic.

A bboy without style, is like a broken pencil.

There's just no point.

indeed.

dancing will give you the definition in the muscles as well as the strength. handstands and other air freezes are great for that as well as baby freeze variations and moving from variation to variation. and yes, with machines it isolates the muscles it works out and forgets about others, thus not os good for bboyin purposes.

I disagree about the machines....machines Do train you only to use certain muscles....that's what they're meant to do. But that doesn't mean the strength isn't as useful as using your body as a weight. The only real downside is that you build 1 muscle faster than others......but the REAL downside is when you don't use machines.....you build 1 side of your muscle, and not the other (Unless you can freeze equally well on both arms, do air babies equally well on both arms, do millz equally well both ways, and so on.....but let's face it, who's PERFECTLY even both ways?) So what you need to do, is find a balance.....In theory, the best thing to do would probably be work out your main muscles at the gym (like IE, for freezes you'd work out your tri's, possibly your bi's (If you wanna do some crazy stuff you'll need some. lol) and your lats.....) THEN you use that muscle to build new muscle....by actually trying the move itself a few hundred times....this way you develop the primary muscles evenly, then can fairly quickly build the auxiliary muscles to back it up.

Peace.

i disagree wid u, middle aged ppl playin softball? .....r u talkin bout the ones that did not when they were younger, cuz we aint talin middle aged ppl, and they would b fat is they did not do that stuff when they were younger so they do it now. on another note i dont kno wut kind of sessions u go through, but if u r not gettin a workout from them, then u dont session as hard as the ppl talkin. u think liftin will make u able to do flares or handstands? not really, doin the moves is wut makes u ablet o do them, and if u can do them, u gotta b in some kind of good shape. I workout more than u and lift more, porb dance more, hell i been dancin longer, but i still believe that u can get in shape from dance
