Not strong enough - 09-28-2003, 11:24 AM

I'm having problems performing some moves because I'm not strong enough yet. I also have a knee problem, any suggestions?

Your never to strong or too weak for most moves, but if u want to strengthen your triceps to hold freezes, just practice holdin turtle freeze,or any other freezes u can do.
I dun think your knee wont get injured unless u fall from a air freeze or sumthin.

Not that this is supposed to come as a surprise to anyone, but a women's center of gravity is different than men's so they have to 'compensate' more for the difference. Mens is in the middle of the body, so they have complete balance already working for them, and women's is in thier upper torso, so they have to even it out before they even begin to move onto shit that seems real basic for guys, but hard for them.

i have a bad knee too...you just have to let it rest, then let it heal, then strenghthen it back up again. im using a tensor bandage rite now to keep it from popping into weird places. i still dance, but im taking a break from bgirling. im learning how to lock, and perhaps popping soon. i really need to take all that pressure off my knee. about strength, i think moves are more of finding ur balance. you have to have some strength, but not as much as you think you do. but really, just keep practicing. the areas you need strength on will develop if you practice.

actually some girls who dont need to 'compensate' for their upper body need to for their lower, because of your lower body parts. I know this because my teacher made us get on our knees (boys and girls) and take a marker in our right hand and put our elbows to our knees and set the marker where you hand ended. Then we put our hands behind our backs and tried to touch our noses to the marker. most of the boys fell but all of the girls did it with ease.

and with your knee. just be careful. cause i injured my knee sometime ago doing a front flip. it still hurts when i break dance, so all i did was to swich my balance(instead of being on that one knee, learn how to do it the other way) this will also improve your breakdancing cause you know how to do one move both ways wich equal more combos.

Panda

yes i know im a guy and i was just surfing to see if any bgirls had any questions that i could help with.

strength wise...just practice, and do pushups. i've never been a fan of wieghts, they don't really help that much unless you kno what you're doing. bboying uses a lot of muscles that are hard to train with wieghts (and some that are rather easy to train with them)...but why go through all that work when you can just practice and get the same strength?

and as for your knee problems, not much ya can do, just try not to fuck them up and make it worse. but if you really love this, you'll find a way to work through it.
