i was out with some friends today, girls ive known since jr high, and i mentioned to them that i started bgirlin rite, and they both look at each other and start cracking up. i was like -wth man, why is it so funny? theyre just sitting there like -HAHAHA CAN U SPIN ON UR HEAD? CAN U DO THAT THING W/ UR LEGS IN THE AIR?? well i cant, so i said no, then theyre like, oh, then what CAN u do? i said i can do a half assed toprock and a little footwork. i explained it as the things u do when ur head is above ur feet. the girls just stared like -huh? whats that? i thot it was just spinning on ur head-
another time i mentioned bgirling to another girl, she laughed and said -omg i have to see this.

whats with girls and not getting it? you could try to explain, but theyll just laugh. im not posting this to get any kind of solution to the problem, some chicks will just always stay ignorant. but yea, just ranting again. i was pretty offended when they just started laughing. they know ive always been pretty physical with my life, so bgirling shouldnt be such a huge surprise, they shoulda seen it coming... i just found it rude that they didnt bother to encourage me or even ask to explain when they had no idea what bgirling is about. i notice we not only need to gain respect from the bboys, and just boys in general, but the girls too. damn its hard being a bgirl. i love it tho.

dont talk about it when your round them, unless they mention it, i know the feelin...

cause i showed some of my frends my blackbook, then at school wen i was jus doodling they were like wow sick thats awesome dude (in a sarcastic way) and sayin like i wish i can do that and all shit like that and its got me really pissed off when ever i do anything even jus genaral drawing they say is that your tag cause it wicked awesome (all sarcastic) and this is mainly jus 1 person and next time he says it im gonna smack him so hard...

so dont talk about it wen your round peeps, unless they understand....

it only gets worse as you get older - anybody you talk to who isn't hooked in to the hip hop community isn't going to appreciate the fact that you break at all ... it's not like saying you practice tae quon do or kung fu , because they don't have cool foreign films to compare it to . So let it be , and just shrug it off ... keep practicing and do it because you enjoy it . THe more friends you make who understand , the better , try to stick with them

yeah , i know what you mean rayray . it's really not specific to girls , and a lot of boys react like that too .
in my experience , when you tell it to someone , some people will be like " whoa , you break ? that's awesome . hey , show me something " and they will like go crazy and get an orgazm from the most basic things , like even baby freeze . the other kind will prob laugh , giggle , mock , put down , or stone you for heresy for this saying .
i think that open - minded people will pick the first option .
i really have no problem with it either way . when somebody laughs at it , and goes like " so you spin on your head ? hahaha " , i'll just laugh with him , cause in some way it is a little funny , and besides , i understand where he's coming from . i can't expect him to know how bboying is , and if i wasn't a bboy myself , i too would probably prefer seeing power rather then footwork .

Yeah totally dont sweat that shit rayray. IT AMAZES me how ignorant some people are. Just remember that its people like this that thought tag team's "whoomp there it is" was still cool 4 months later cool enough to make it abc's like fall season catch phrase. People like this that go around saying " you are the weakest link.....goodbye" . Just remember that it's alot easier to destroy something than it is to create.

the people i hang out with are like ohh thats awesome your learning how to break- and like tonight we were over my friends and my boyfriend and him were spinning and i was bored so i was praticing my freezes and my friend josh was like ohhh how do you do that and so i taught him a baby freeze- kinda lol but most of them understand i don't know- the ones that arnt interested i don't care about and ignore.... don't let stuff get under your skin and if it bothers you that much quit and be cool with your other friends........ why complain-

It was very rude. At that point I would have been like can YOU spin on your head? Can YOU show ME what top rock or foot work is? They would've been like uhhhh....and felt pretty dumb for insulting your intelligence.

You hung out with these girls since jr high? I hope they're just acquaintences and not actual friends cuz if they are they're really sucky friends to have!

Luckily I've always hung out with kids integrated into the scene so I never had much of a problem with them not "understanding" why I do it. But I remember getting in a fight over some grafitti beef. Like I was welcome to break but not to graff. It was a huge discrepancy over what was written and somebody dissed somebody yada yada and my shyt got bombed....I actually went and painted my pieces over with white...and told them I didn't want to be part of anything negative. They actually gave me more respect after that. Then I just painted in new spots by myself. Sometimes you just gotta remove yourself from bad situations and move forward with what you learned from it.

Ignorant people can get frustrating though. The best thing i.m.o. is to school them and if they don't wanna be schooled or at least show respect....then they don't exist, they're simply bricks in the wall~

i have some frinds like that, needless to say i don't really hand out with them that much anymore, sometimes you just outgrow old friends, and make new ones who are on your wavelength. don't even worry, they are partly just jealous bc they are lazy and out of shape and have massive love handles lol! just forget it and put that negative energy into positive enrgy when u break, break to show yourself you are better than them with the abiltiy of controlling your body in amny different poses. screw em, they probably buy all their gear at some mad cheesy teenybopper boutique and think wearing all the brand name clothing makes them hip hop chicks. believe they are nothing to worry about, all they rep is the mall

but im not really caring anymore, ive found bboys where i live, i've found kung fu people where i am too, so we just sit and talk about kung fu for hours and nobody makes fun of us, and the better we are, the more respect we get, not laughs.
