Jenni here-
I'm new, both to this site and to breakdancing. I just started taking breakdancing classes. Although I do have a dance background (dancing tap, jazz, and hip hop for 13 years) I have to say that I am scared, excited, nervous, anxious about breakdancing. I am always in awe when I see breakers, and nothing impresses me more then a girl that can get out there and bust it out like the boys! I hope that I can make all you b-girls proud and represent the STRONGER sex! |

Hello all... I'm not explicitly a newbie but since I've been out of the game for a number of years, I'm basically back at square one. I'm currently living in the Boston area and I am looking for people to practice with who don't mind I'm beyond rusty....please hit me up with if anyone has any info.

Hi all! =]
Breakdancing has always amazed me...but I'm not sure if I can learn it. I have many questions. Are there any prerequisites? Do you need a really low body fat %? I'm 17 and I currently lift weights. I'm wondering if that's enough to start learning. I think I'm in pretty good shape. |

hey guys this is B-girl Spice im from Australia and train with the SKB in Sydney Parramatta. I just finished my secondary school exams so im only starting serious B-girling now, But precisely i've been b-girling about 5/6 months ago once a week about 2 hours, only because of exams and such. I've been asked to join crew 109 Furious Motionz (they learn from Hybrid Formz), However i feel i need to train more first before joining a crew just yet =] feel free to hit me up. Peace.

Oo sweet hola to you all. I don't think you need a really low body fat percentage, Breaking in itself will help you in that area. Lifting weights could help, I did the same thing for like a month befor I started but then I soon found out that when you bgirl you use alot of diffrent muscles that weight lifting doesn't help much in. bgirling really builds up your core strength.
that's from my point of veiw. eww yea, and exams suck..;( |

welcome to the bgirl forum. let me know if you have any questions.
I agree, you don't need to be in amazing shape to start... it's a good workout itself and you'll build as you go. just don't do what i did and throw yourself COMPLETELY in it from far less (that uses those muscles etc)... i'm dealing w/ muscle issues now. |

The lighter the body, the easier and faster your body can get used to handling that weight.Im not sayin go anorexic but whens the last time you seen a 200 pound sprinter or even a 200 pound bboy.

^thats really irrelevant- ur body starts to accommodate itself according to ur training. and there are big bboys- hell theres a bboy with no legs- weight isnt really an issue unless ur body cant handle it.

Hey I'm socks:P
I hate typing out introduction type posts, 'cause I never know what to say but... I'm 21. At the moment I'm living in France (Aix en Provence, down south ) to learn French, but I'm actually from the Netherlands (Assen).I wanted to start breaking when I was 15, my mum was VERY against it... so that was that and I just tucked it in the back of my head. Inbetween I've been doing stuff like jazz dance and some contemporary dance... Untill now. Because I've just started, I still resemble very much either a fairy bunny princess trying to toprock or an old lady looking for her contact lenses whilst doing the sixstep... But I hope with lots of practise and as my arms /back get stronger and more flexible I'll get better ![]() |
