It is pretty smart to learn yourself, so it shows that you're determined if you didn't have class because some people stop after they stop having classes. Also, it will be easier to know what to do if you learn by yourself since you're the one telling yourself what you should practice next not like in classes, but if you want to find classes go for it what area do you live in should be a good thing to know if you want people to tell you if there's a beginner class or one on one teaching in your area.

No not really. Most people look down on class taught bboys because the usually have no...wats the word....flavor. Teaching yourself lets you know wat your good at and what you need to work on. Plus you figure out what kinda bboy you want to be (leys not have a discussion on the types here please :P ). Since youve done gymnastics I advise you learn some toprock first at least befor you go on to power moves

Also ther are move guides here and youtube always works no matter what anyone tells you. I've learned quite a bit from good bboys as well as those that are not so good(meaning i learned how to not fuck up). Also if you have acess to a gymnastics gym ur at a higher advantage and should just use trial and error

learn toprock footwork and basic freezes which r in the moves guide forums. after that add combine them to ur own style and liking, learn watever you want, and find that move in the moves guide forum. seriously..old school bboys didnt even have these videos and websites to teach them, and ur complaining about not getting enough info to dance

Actually I don't think a lot of people have a lot against classes.

Also, just start on these:

toprock
six-step
baby freeze

after

three-step
twelve-step
turtle freeze then handglide freeze
possibly chair freeze
still work on toprock

any questions ask me.

Go to sessions and practice, and if you're nice, show you're determined and people like you, they will help you along the way. Or you can use your moneys for lessons at a dance studio. I think PMT Dance Studios has lessons and maybe Broadway Dance Center. Look it up, google is your friend. But you will not get far being locked up inside a dance studio.

That's crazy talk!

teaching yourself is not a bad idea, but some people are bad a getting the concept of moves down from reading tons and tons of text and/or watching videos because they dont see the exact movements from some videos.

so sometimes getting help from a teacher or instrutor or whatever
is better because you will get a personal close up look to how they are doing it and thier movements so you dont get it wrong, and be like wtf i was doing this all wrong.

sorry i dont know any teachers in that area =P
im no help to you x]
